Grado are on the bright side, not an all rounder, pairing well with rock musics

Dt 990 pro : the highs are quite pronounced, mids are recessed and bass is deep, plentiful, and tightly controlled

I would choose the hifiman but it's my personal taste

For EDM the beyer's are good as the He 400, but I prefer how the Hifiman handles voices and mediums in general

Both are good cans, but getting an ortho for less than 300 $

TontonJok: I believe the beyer would have similar sound signature as the Hifiman? Any reason to prefer the Hifiman overall?

I have both ....prefer the Beyers for EDM/Thumping music but the vocals sound better on the Hifiman, so love some of the pop/rock recordings on them. Do keep in mind that you can get the DT990 Pro for less than half the price of the He400. Both are amazing cans though :)

In audio when you double the price you never get doubled performances

Which is why I didn't buy the HE-500 I got my HE-400 for 250.00 new. For the price they rock. I don't mind spending money in my quest for the perfect sound but I have a great closed can and another closed can on it's way, and the HE-400 is my open hp option of the week.

Kinda wished I hadn't done that. I enjoyed it. The NAD is really good. If the Momentum was more comfortable I probably would kept that too.I have really had some nice HP's at the same price point. So I guess it is what sounds the best at that price. But none of them were bad.

After that range of phones you get nice improvements but for big money

I also returned the Momentum, they sounded nice but they didn't really comfortably fit my head.
So you prefer the NAD HP50 over the Momentum, how is the sound quality compared between the two, what about comfort ? :)

I tried the NAD but hated the comfort so much that I returned it. They sounded very nice but the treble was too laid back for my taste. I have the Soundmagic HP100 and I really like it so far.

Also I've sold my HE-400. I don't listen to much bass heavy music. So I'm saying goodbye to this thread.

So they were not a comfortable fit for you? Because of the thin headband or overall?

I have the HE-400 right know but just today i purchased HD650 and I will return the 400's and wait for the HE400i model.
