I've seen vintage speaker amp mentioned now so many times that I finally had to try it myself. I hooked my HE400 to my AKAI receiver amps speaker taps... Amazing I must say! Sound is just so rich, big and full! Even my desktop headphone amp can't deliver sound like this with HE400.

So has anyone determined what thickness of Sorbothane to use? 30, 40, 50, 70? I tried to read thorough the thread and find all are being used? Can someone clarify which was the best results and how much was used?

Thank you.

richard51 has mentioned that 70 duro sorb is best one to use. I'll give you ebay link for one I used.

One sheet of this sorb will be well adequate for one headphone. Refer to thread pictures how I installed sorb for my HE400.

Hello Richard. I took the plunge and ordered a 3x3 sorbathane sheet rated at 70D for the HE-400's. Here's the link. When I get the sheet can I contact you to guide me on how to attach the sorbathane? I would be much grateful!
Thanks,
Chris

I installed sorb this way, results are very good. First I only installed sorb to boarders, but later tried some sorb on centre plastic aswell. That made great improvements aswell, for example soundstage surprisingly expanded, very nice.:D

How could you remove those grills?
There is a little plastic ring that you get a finger nail behind and it will pop out.
