wow lol this really is helping.  fyi i have jergpads.  the lows are bleeding a little into the vocals and i suspect the dampening properties of the jergs are keeping it from being excessive so it might not be as good with stock pads pleather or velour

this did alter the sound a little and some vocals gave off a slight nasaly effect so what i did was twisted my pads 180 degrees because when i did the jerg mod i cut the foam ring slightly less than half and then cut the inside diameter closer to the outside and then glued it on and marked where the foam was.  So my pads are slightly angled.  i then pivoted the cups so the front was had less pressure than the back creating a little more room for the sound to open up.  This solved my issue.

Do the d2000 pads go on the plastic hifiman clip rings without modding the pads? Very interesting

Yep, they're a little thicker making the install a little more of a challenge, but still takes less than 10 minutes for the complete swap.

my buddy just dropped these off to me :)  i miss these headphones.  They're so much easier on the ears(minus the sibilance).
about to try the pads on the 400
also i modded these pads a few years ago and also did the dampening mod

about to listen.  the only thing i see being a possible downfall is there is a plastic base in the pads that restricts the opening so possibly a resonance conductor but also might limit the obtrusiveness of the large size driver

lol my apologies.  I figured i'd keep anyone reading informed in a timely manner instead of making them wait. i guess i just let my excitement get the best of me.  I finally have  headphone i can listen to that doesn't hurt my ears.  Now i have to talk him into keeping the jerg pads on the d2000

kursah noted extra bass but i am not.  maybe it's because his is stock and mine is modded leaving an opening of stuffing (not seen) to dampen some of the resonance
Edit* nevermind just played tyga rack city for sub bass and this thing rattles like a dynamic driver while not being intrusive at all
