Can't, Koss ESP-950 and E-90 Energizer/DACmini CX stack are now taking all of my listening time. :p

Just kiddin', HE-4 is still on my home theater setup. Still the all-rounder king with movies, music, and tv-shows. :)

But.... the ESP950 comes with an amp? Did you try different amps on it?

The E90 is an energizer. It is designed to be an amp...but is it really an amp by head-fi standards?

The ESP-950 "ear-speakers" (by Stax terms) and E90 energizer absolutely benefit from a pre-amp (that has all of the components working, or you'll get a buzzing-sound ), but like its Stax counterparts, also benefit from a better DAC.

Edit: Also, if anyone has a 5-pin-Koss-to-Stax-pro adapter laying around, consider donating it to me.:)

It'll be a slow rebuild due to work and 2 small children, I'll update in a week or so with some pics

Weekend updates work, too.

Edit: If you find yourself in some jam, take your time and post your problem to a vintage pioneer receiver thread. I heard these receivers are rather tricky to refurbish.

I have the 2 main filter caps ordered, replacing them just because, someone has been here before, so I'm just going to replace those and see how it sounds. I have this thing in pieces right now, the faceplate was worn bad, so I'll be doing my best to make it look decent, the wood case wasn't bad, I'm almost don't with it. Love these amps. all the pots were cleaned then lubed with lps1, all push switches and boards with deoxit d5. Basically it's just clean right now, now cap work or anything done, yet.
