Still, it is just a software - must not be rocket science to implement.
There was one opinion in our forum, suspecting Hiby keeps Darwin II for adding some additional “competitiveness” to recent models.

Of course it is weird that most expensive model stopped getting features updates just in one year..
that's what I think

Agreed. Yes I know you can sideload but that’s a faff (…and noted some users had issues...). Commitment to DarwinV2 via firmware was made in July ‘23. Can we at least get some transparency on what the issue is and is the intention to release as firmware at some point, or is that commitment no longer the case. Just be straightforward.

@Joe Bloggs
As the developer of Darwin v2 myself I have never been told why they have never been (seems like never will?) be put into firmware except in the R8II (not even the RS8!).

This is my speculation.

Note, the Darwin v2 filters in the R8ii are composed of 1024 taps instead of 256 taps as on the RS6 and RS8, and so will be different (superior?) in any case.

Absolutely not true.

DRX10K, crown jewel of our DSP technologies in my not so humble opinion.

Available even on the OG R6 from 2018.

Parametric EQ directly compatible with squig.link autoEQ files, massive time saver.

Will be available on any R Android unit still getting updates, in a coming update.

I also know that releasing Darwin V2 on supported devices was on the official action plan as of several months ago, so whatever the reason for it not appearing, it does not stem from deliberate choice.

I personally love the Darwin v2, and I so much miss my RS8. In hope that the device is repaired next month, its been a long 4 months without it. As a RS9/DSP fan, we are so lucky to have you active in this group.

Appreciate your response and insight….your speculation makes sense.

So, we will be going for a holiday and it will be first time that I'd need to charge RS8 with something other than the CR08 dock.
Any advice or suggestions on what to use/what not to use?
Any quality charger is fine. I use my iPhone charger. Easy. If possible, I use a non rapid charger to be easier on the battery.

Any PD 2 charger will do. Anything less and you'll be waiting half a day for a charge.

I am using ifi ipower elite

Thanks all, my worry is not to fry it using a wrong adapter. It sounds like anything that charges IPhone should be fine -)

Hi Joe,

PEQ is huge!

Quick question. I don't know if it makes sense: Which of the plug ins are different forms of EQ, and which change other sound characteristics?
We have DRX10K, Mastermind, Sound field and Convolution.

Second this question, and also wondering if there is a post or link to explain what all of them do?
