HiBy RS8 flagship Darwin R2R Android DAP -- Class A -- news and impressions thread

As the developer of Darwin v2 myself I have never been told why they have never been (seems like never will?) be put into firmware except in the R8II (not even the RS8!).

https://www.head-fi.org/threads/proof-of-evolution—darwin-filters-v2-for-hiby-rs6-rs8-rs2-fc6.969083/page-5#post-17968023

This is my speculation.

Note, the Darwin v2 filters in the R8ii are composed of 1024 taps instead of 256 taps as on the RS6 and RS8, and so will be different (superior?) in any case.
Wonder why a different number of taps, given that the snapdragon platforms on those 3 daps are basically the same, therefore all technically capable of the same computational power.

It can actually be a deliberate choice by HiBy to create product segmentation,

Has anyone tried the DCA E3 with their RS8? I'm looking for a closed back planar to replace my aging EL-8.

The Darwin AA filters run on the Darwin FPGA, not the CPU, and the Darwin FPGA is definitely different (upgraded) on the R8 ii.

Meze Liric pairs very well with RS8, especially in the bass area is magnificent.

Thanks! After my post, I found a Headfonics review that specifically pairs the RS8 with the E3 with great results.

@Joe Bloggs
Could you please clarify if the Darvin2 filters, which are suggested to be set manually, can work correctly with RS8's FPGA? As I understand it was designed for a different chip, different performance, different number of taps, etc...

So long as you don't use the iem preset, it works and rather works much better than stock.

The RS8 utilizes filter presets with the same number of taps as the RS6. It's the R8ii that goes up to 1024 taps.

Hi RS8 gang , I keep getting ‘update failed’ message when trying to update to new firmware … it gets to about 42% then stops. I am connected on wifi and all other apps are off. Any ideas ?
Thanx-gracias !
Clear cache few times and redownload update again helped me. But i succeed only from 3rd or 4th attempt.

Ok, guys, need your help.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/headfi.org/posts/10161420650439736

Think I might be out of a job at HiBy Music because of this guy at this rate.

Read it, make of it what you will and respond as you will.

As I say, I'm more an engineer than a social influencer.
He is just an unhinged guy that literally wrote an article that insults hiby and you. That guy sounds like a paid shill from another company straight out to try and blemish you and hiby. I should know because he sounds EXACTLY as someone who posted a fake review insulting me and my job place while trying to "just compare offers".
I think you should report him! Had him reported to google and they immediately took down that fake review. Time later i even found out it was the husband of someone working for a competitor!

Also, the whole "bone" he has with you is that you kindly told him that he just INSULTED the product without any merit and you rightly told him that another big reviewer had such a different opinion, he was just being an asshole.

Regarding the quality of your work as well as speed in responding and finding work-arounds for devices of us which are causing trouble is absolutely amazing, convincing ... I would say unique !
Thanks again for your great support you are providing to us.

Comparing Hiby FC6 to Mojo 2 is unfair, the fact the Hiby is so much cheaper than Mojo 2.
I would dare to say Xduoo XD05 Pro wins Mojo 2 totally 😂
