I loved the N8ii but the RS6 has also been one of my favorites for a long time. Was hoping the RS8 would actually sit a little bit in the middle between those two.

In some ways it does but it's still not the pinnacle of holografy and resolution compared to the ROHM DAPs but doesn't need to as it has other qualities like vertical depth, nice body and low end with alluring mids and that analogue non fatiguing longterm listening qualities tonality.

Therefore also the comments regarding Mentor synergy as with RS8 it becomes more smooth with focus on mids and analogue oomph but missing out a bit on the advertised Mentor super power: staging and excitement.
Still a nice listening experience on its own

Mentor is too bright on N8ii and too flat, boring, and small on RS8.
If Mentor is your most important iem to maximize synergy look to ak sp3000 or maybe shanling m9+. Folks with mentor seem to have bought and quickly sold dx320 max.

My fav dap is RS8 but with FiR and Softears iems.

Aside from this, even with the latest firmware I also noticed MQA problems with Hiby Music and Tidal, i.e. track is running but sometimes sound isn't playing at all.

Do you notice any pattern to when this may happen?

Just received my RS8 ... Currently installing and configuring it ...

First observation is that Accubattery Pro refuses to do Power Usage Measurements (and therefore is less usable on the RS8) It works on the RS6 though.
Anyone familiar with this?

Second observation is that Nova Launcher Prime refuses to restore from backup Solved by moving backup file to subfolder

Third observation is that UAPP now suddenly wants me to manually add subfolders rather than simply scan disks.

First audition will be this evening

1. I have set a pattern for Lock Screen. Where can I go to change the time limit before it is activated?
not found in settings. presume can't be done. without this my device is pretty open as well as my google play store.

2. Am experiencing screen disconnect issues every 20 seconds using HibyCast using an iPhone. Has anyone expierenced this? it's very frustrating making the user experience awful.

3. I am using Tidal as part of the built-in services. Does using Tidal downloaded from the App Store have a lower SQ?

4. I can't seem to be able to download songs in the Tidal Hiby version. Is this possible? Can I play songs downloaded into the memory (using Tidal) using the Tidal Hiby version?

5. Is there anyway to change from the Green/Gold color theme.

I downloaded UAPP and some of the plugins for Morhpitt and Parametric EQ. Thanks so much for the recommendation. I am using it with Qobuz. now just to sync all my playlists.

Haha no worries, I was listening to my RS8 + RN6 as I was reading your posted, though not looking at the photo LOL, and was excited in refreshing for a new OTA firmware.

First musical Impressions indicate a clear yes for the Stellia and the HE1000se (both w/Lavricables Grand 20) when it comes to sinergy with the RS8. The Meze Elite (Angled) on the contrary have not really been able to convince yet.. Will potentially have to spend some more time trying to tune those. ZMF VC will have to wait until later this week.
