HiBy RS8 flagship Darwin R2R Android DAP -- Class A -- news and impressions thread

First musical Impressions indicate a clear yes for the Stellia and the HE1000se (both w/Lavricables Grand 20) when it comes to sinergy with the RS8. The Meze Elite (Angled) on the contrary have not really been able to convince yet.. Will potentially have to spend some more time trying to tune those. ZMF VC will have to wait until later this week.
Thanks. What were your findings with the Elite, can you elaborate…

Hi,

I had some questions earlier which I've managed to get answers to. Would love some help on the below from more experienced users // maybe Hiby support?

1. I have set a pattern for Lock Screen. Where can I go to change the time limit before it is activated?
not found in settings. presume can't be done. without this my device is pretty open as well as my google play store.

2. Am experiencing screen disconnect issues every 20 seconds using HibyCast using an iPhone. Has anyone expierenced this? it's very frustrating making the user experience awful.

3. I am using Tidal as part of the built-in services. Does using Tidal downloaded from the App Store have a lower SQ?

4. I can't seem to be able to download songs in the Tidal Hiby version. Is this possible? Can I play songs downloaded into the memory (using Tidal) using the Tidal Hiby version?

5. Is there anyway to change from the Green/Gold color theme.
1. The screen timeout adjustment is under "Display".
2. HiByCast is still a new feature in development. Usually it is recommended to operate the device directly.
3. Shouldn't be.
4. HiByMusic being a third party app does not have permission to download tracks to storage.
5. You can e.g. download and install alternative launchers from Google Play.

Try the Elite with the hybrid pad. For me that is quite convincing.

@Joe Bloggs Any idea why this is happening on the RS8? Works fine on the RS6...
It's true that the RS8 does not support reporting discharge current. Charge current reports are supported.

Newsee, thank you so much!

When it comes to convolution filters under plug in's and I click the '?' it pop

Thank you so very much Newsee 🙏🏽

I downloaded UAPP and some of the plugins for Morhpitt and Parametric EQ. Thanks so much for the recommendation. I am using it with Qobuz. now just to sync all my playlists.

can I get a recommendation for a resource where I can learn more on UAPP. how to configure plugins and convolution filters. I searched you tube and google but no joy.

on the same note is it possible to get more:
1) tuning styles under MSEB besides the 4 which are available when I click online.
2) files for convolution filters under plugins --> convolution

is there a place to learn more about the different options such as mastermind and those within it like A4499.

1. Tuning styles are preset slider positions--you can create and save new slider positions yourself
2. Convolution is capable of applying all sorts of effects. Here's a subtle spatial enhancement file set to start with:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/sqhbbm1019xzt51/Joe's lossless crossfeed v2-44k.wav?dl=0
https://www.dropbox.com/s/25gfuztv46e3p37/Joe's lossless crossfeed v2-48k.wav?dl=0

You would use the 44k file when the music sample rate is 44.1 / 88.2 / 176.4 and the 48k file on 48 / 96 / 192 sample rates.

Using the Meze 109 Pro’s I’m finding the treble being too strong for me. I have reduced the gain to low and turned off turbo which helps but it’s something I have to bear to listen to.
Is there an easy setting to up the bass and reduce the high’s. I notice that the same track on Tidal is a little less bright than Qobuz or using UAPP or it could just be me..
just bought these headphones :/

Use MSEB to tweak the highs. But ultimately it could just be the synergy between headphone and DAP is not ideal.

Thanks. I’ve used em for a couple of hours and am using the stock cables.
The Stellia sound remarkable on the rs8. I've been perusing the web and forums for a good IEM which is on the darker side as I have an issue with prononced treble.
Would love any suggestions if anyone has paired one with these qualities for under $600 (I looked at the 64 u4s but think they are too similar to the shure846).

Vision Ears Elysium sounds like what you are looking for in a Mid Centric IEM, I have the same issues with sibilance (pronounced treble can be described as this by me in my dictionary) that it sounds like you might have.

Another idea is try using tips emphasizing mids such as Spiral Dots ++

the vision ears look great but are almost 4x what I'd like to part with. I may be able to go a little higher but GBP 2100 is quite high. I am fairly new to IEM's. anyone tried the Meteor's with the RS8?

The RS8 is quite heavy and feels tiring having to hold it even higher because of the wires protruding from the bottom. Because of this I cant' rest it on my leg or desk while using it (selecting music and all that).

I tried auto-rotate but it doesn't rotate 180" which would have been a great solution! @Hiby, is it possible to make a tweak in Darwin to permit this?

Does anyone know of some good converters which would make the outputs right-angled? thanks so much.
