Unfair question I know: Does anyone have a sense that the RS6 may be upgraded with a new model soon? I see that there is a small discount being offered ny one retailer. I have other an old HIby DAP and I am a big fan of the sound and support. Thanks.
I think the response to that is that the R8 is a year or so older and its still on the market. The RS6 moreover isn't going to be bothered by chip shortages/improvements/etc...

I have received my replacement RS6 today, the seller was kind enough to replace it with a new one.
It looks better in silicone case than the leather case IMO.
The front screen guard is not applied properly, rear one is good.

RS6 really shines with an external portable AMP. I have been listening to RS6+Topping NX7. I couldn't find much advantage with IEMs (Blessing 2 and Kanas Pro) but with headphones (HD6XX and LCD2C) it's excellent. Sound is bigger, more dynamic, no coloration and there is no loss of details. With LCD2C the bass slams as good as my desktop AMP which makes NX7 an excellent choice if anyone wants to use full size headphones with RS6.

It's a little bulky to carry around but it's alright with me :relaxed:

After some synergy issues with Odin which I found too reveiling on RS6 I am now totally blissed by my new favorite IEM.

If you are getting over fit issues and find the right tips (for me the SpinFit CP155-M are giving the best balance of bass, mids and treble) that combo is killer!

I recently got some Shanling M9 which I reckoned to replace RS6 but hell, no.
Using EXT as the sonic transducer RS6 is besting M9 with a more defined dry low end punch, lively accentuated vocals and treble with still great timbre which is making listening an absolute joy.
Highly recommended!
I have been using both RS6 and M9 in DAC mode so I could easily switch between both DAPs while keeping the source (IPad the same).
While I got first excited about the M9 ability to fully unfold MQA in DAC mode I now realized RS6 can do it too!

So RS6 will be a keeper for me.
Again a nice Showcase of synergy.
If you aren't happy with one combo you don't necessarily have to switch the DAP but can find a better paired IEM for your taste

Anyone tried RS6 with C9 and Vision Ears EXT?
Am really pleased with RS6 and EXT and wondering if C9 will scale the experience further as that's not always the case with any combination from what I've read.

If I was to root my RS6, will it sonically have any improvement?

I'm thinking of using Neutron app and used all to DSD format.

Rooting, in and of itself, will not change the device's sound. Of course, once rooted, there are many modifications that can be made, such as JamesDSP that can change things, for better or worse. I rooted my New R6 (2020) and played around with a few modules and hacks. I did eventually go back to stock for the latest OTA and didn't bother to root again.

Neutron doesn't require root.

I wanted to know if allowing all 8 core for audio purposes will improve sound, specially for wanting to use all to DSD for neutron app. I love the sound of DSD on RS6.

Ah, I understand now. I'm afraid I never tried that while rooted.

If I’m connecting my RS6 to WiFi that uses a captive portal for authentication, how can I trigger that from the HiBy OS or apps?

If you mean on the RS6 itself, the authentication page should pop up automatically when you connect to the WiFi.

@Joe Bloggs
I can't control volume on RS6 when connected to Edifier R2000db speakers via bluetooth. Don't have this issue with anyother DAP or mobiles.
Is there a way to fix this?
Have you tried disabling Absolute Volume in Developer Options?

Yes I do mean on the RS6 itself. I don't get any authentication page when connecting to this public WiFi to accept the terms & conditions.

Apologies, I'm used to iOS which always pops up the WiFi captive portal page within the WiFi Settings. I'm not so familiar with how Android handles this.
