Can anyone confirm that USB DAC function with windows driver works post-update. I am having difficulty with this and would like to know if it is firmware related or something I've done wrong. Thanks!!

It appears that the "current version: 1.40G_20220517-1926" for the RS6, has a screwed-up USB subsystem driver.
.
I say this because it does two unexpected things:
1.) Turns "USB debugging" ON - every time the RS6 is booted up. If I go into "Developer options", and turn "USB debugging" OFF, it stays Off when plugging & unplugging the USB cable to my Kubuntu Linux PC - until the next time the RS6 is rebooted.
2.) No longer allows the RS6 to operate as a USB DAC. It doesn't show up as an Output Device any longer, even when plugging/unplugging the USB cable, or resetting the the pipewire audio subsystem on my PC.

@Joe Bloggs - Could you ask the developers to quickly fix the 1.40G firmware? Thanks!

Yes, I have exactly the same issues! Looking forward to a quick fix esp. the inability to use as a USB DAC...thanks @DBaldock9 and please pass to HiBy coprorate @Joe Bloggs!

Sorry, I wanted to clarify what material the RS6 frame itself is made of? Copper, alloy, brass... or something else?

Ok but can all users who are having this issue come forward and tell me what OS they're using on their computer?

Ok but can all users who are having this issue come forward and tell me what OS they're using on their computer?

I've attempted to use my RS6 as a USB DAC on two PCs, and it doesn't work on either one.

1) Desktop PC (DIY Build):
Processors: 12 × Intel® Core™ i7-3930K CPU @ 3.20GHz
Memory: 32 GB of RAM
Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti/PCIe/SSE2
Operating System: Kubuntu 22.04
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.92.0
Qt Version: 5.15.3
Kernel Version: 5.15.0-35-generic (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11
.
Linux doesn't require downloading and installing a specific USB Driver from the HiBy Support site.
The Error is that the RS6 no longer shows up as an Output Device.

.
.
2) Laptop PC (Sager NP8967 (Clevo P960RF)):
Processors: 12 x Intel® Core™ i7-9750H CPU @ 2.60GHz
Memory: 32 GB of RAM
Graphics Processor (1): Intel® UHD Graphics 630
Graphics Processor (2): NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 w/Max-Q
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro (64-bit)
Version: 21H2
OS Build: 199044.1706
.
Downloaded and installed the "HiBy_UsbAudio_v4.86.2_setup.exe" USB Driver, from the HiBy Support site.
The Error shown in Device Manager: "Unknown USB Device (Invalid Configuration Descriptor)"

.
.
EDIT: NOTE: When powering ON the RS6 - if the USB cable is connected to either PC, Every time my RS6 is powered ON, "USB debugging" gets switched ON, even if it was switched OFF (and doubled checked as OFF) before the previous power OFF.

So fellow users with the new issue trying to use USB DAC mode:

Firstly, these changes to the USB situation are centred around the addition of the MQA USB HID feature, which I gather is about letting the computer know what the device is doing with MQA signals. Not saying this is the cause, as we probably just faffed up the implementation this time around, but just explaining what's going on as it were.

Secondly, there firstly is a debugging app for this in the Windows system you can download and install here:
https://www.uwe-sieber.de/usbtreeview_e.html#download

When this is running, connect up the RS6, set it to USB audio input, and take screenshots of the tree view before and after. Thanks. As this is currently a case of "works for us" over at HiBy HQ.

Cheers,
Joe

USB DAC is working for me both in power/no power mode, using usb-c to usb-c cable, Windows 10 Pro build 19044.1741 and default driver that installed automatically. Although I have tried it only with youtube (so just 48kHz/32b). Also, I have never tried DAC mode before with this player.

If anyone wants me to test something, just ask.

Just verifying - Does your RS6 Firmware say: 1.40G_20220517-1926?
