The prices for the R6 Pro are coming down on Amazon. Does that mean that HiBy is getting ready to release a new TOTL DAP?
OK, I found the R8 thread. Don't like the 2K price and the R6 Pro is nicely discounted to $549 on Amazon.
I have a Sony ZX 300 which can play a long time for travel abroad and an iBasso DX 220 with amp 8, standard amp and amp 9. Sounds lovely but is only good for 3 hours or so depending what you are driving.
I also have a HiBy R3 which impressed me so much I bought one for my son for Christmas.
I love a good deal so I ordered a gray aluminum R6 Pro this morning. Looking forward to the MQA update.
Hi Joe, thanks for sending this! I opened the link and see 8 files and a folder called META_INF. However, I can't remember how I go about installing it
So maybe I'm trying to do the OTA updates wrong. Here's the process I'm following:
1. Open "Settings"
2. Scroll down and select "System"
3. Click on "Wireless Updates"
4. On the green screen with the circle and up arrows, it says: Current: R6PROInt_1.7G_20191213_1714
5. I clicked the "Check for updates" bubble at the bottom
6. It does "Checking for updates" for a few seconds, and then gives me this error:
Network connection failed(Failed to connect to fota5s.xxx.com/0.0.0.0:443
I'm definitely connected to the internet because I'm playing Tidal and Qobuz tracks right now with no problems.
My andreoid version is 8.1.0, Build 1.7G. My Android security patch level = December 5, 2017
***Edit*** I just read the posts after this one and it looks like I have the latest firmware
Thinking of ordering the R6 Pro, just wanted ask UK owners, how much custom duty, etc did you get stung with when ordering direct from Hiby and what was average delivery time.

This player does wonder to HD800 in the balanced mode. I have not seen such synergy from my other desktop setups. It sounds like the Sonarworks DSP applied. That smoothness which is often talked about Hiby benefits the HD800, making it surprisingly musical. I would say, Hiby radically changes HD800’s characteristics from clinical to full and warm. No sibilance or treble peaks, and the bass is phenomenal. It sounds like a HD650 with better soundstage and imaging.
I only wished, the WiFi was more stable. It keeps dropping every now and then while streaming from tidal. No other device does that in my house.

If you are not in a hurry amazon uk have been having decent sales on it. Bear in mind with the current situation deliverys and customs could take longer.
Amazon's price is currently £549.99, where ordering direct from Hiby is £420, which is a massive difference, but will custom, etc bump that up to Amazon PRICES? That's what I'm looking to find out
You'll get stung for import charges, it will probably not be as much as buying from Amazon but you get it quicker and have the back-up that its bought from Amazon.
