Hiby R6 Pro - serious upgrade to popular DAP

Hiby R6 Pro vs iBasso DX200
Which one is better ? I just care about the sound, I can live with any firmware etc.
I want a neutral sound.

Better question would be R6 Pro vs upcoming DX220 (april), as DX200 is even before the R6 :p

Aesthetically I still prefer the R6 Pro, however, we will see what the specs for the DX220 look like and just how tiny the special discount from HiBy is...

Thanks for sharing the news on the DX220!

Cheers,
Tim

AK has much better form design, its outlook is gorgeous to me, but it is much pricier than other brands.
Depends which AK you are talking about. None of those Picasso inspired, off-kilter designs do anything but annoy the heck out of me and go against all sense of elegance in design...

But then again - that is just my taste and opinion and that and $3 will get you a nice cup of coffee!

Tim

@davidmolliere Do you think the R6pro is a good pairing for the EE Phantoms? Or should I go for the AK se100?
Thank you!

Haven’t heard the SE100, apparently it’s quite analytical... but the R6 Pro pairs well with the Phantom, that much I can tell you!

Got my R6 Pro for less then a day. Paired well with my JVC FD01 solidege.
Based on my initial impression: ZX300 < R6 Pro < SE100 IMO.

Congrats!!!

I have had my R6 Pro for one week or so now and I find its break-in process particularly "real"; its sound is still changing (improving) every day (especially through the 4.4mm connection)...

Hope hiby will give a good price for those who sub on the news letter for the R6 Pro.

The price should be very good to make the people stay on hiby side)
It's possible that the dx220 is a good jump up in price on it's own so that they're not quite directly competing anyway. I don't expect that hiby will stay at $799 for very long though either.... Id guess that in a few months the hiby will be ~$700ish and the dx220 will be $1000ish. That's not an insignificant price difference. The caveat being if ibasso sells a version of the dx220 without amp for current users of it's ecosystem.

Over in the DX220 thread there is a post suggesting they are trying to keep the price the same as the DX200 - so competitive with the R6 Pro assuming the $799 is the real price here. However, given they have not shared/finalized the hardware yet it is certainly no given.

Cheers,
Tim
