No problems with the 1.3 beta version and OK to try it? I really want system-wide PEQ, how well is it working?

Someone earlier in the thread said that they had to wait a while and keep trying.

Mine updated with no problems and in Europe like yourself, have you tried clearing cache ?
Yes...but I'm on 1.22 version...maybe this is the "problem"

It might be, mine is 1.21_20231017-1818 and it thinks it's up to date. How did you get that version? You're probably best asking Hiby support about this.

I get it from Hiby because of a problem of gain option switchable on LO. They send me this update and said they made the gain fully switchable on LO as the chip allowed it and as some users asked for this option. Personnally I would have preferred a fixed line out.

I see, cannot tell you what version I had previously before this beta update as did not take note , player was bought just before Xmas and if I recall has only updated once, might be twice not sure.

Need some advice from anyone who has used the PEQ settings for setting up headphones, I changing the settings manually according to the chart, I am confused where it says in the box Preamp Gain -5.4, does it mean I have to change the Preamp settings to -5.4 or does it mean the Preamp settings have changed to 5.4 because of the other settings I changed/applied ? https://www.dropbox.com/s/bekw87s97xgy3ra/Meze 109 Pro (RME ADI-2).pdf?e=2&dl=0

Just got a tpu case from Aliexpress (also on eBay) for $26.26 Canadian. I like it a lot better than the original case as it makes buttons recessed and hard to accidentally push. I think it also looks better. :L3000::L3000:

Yes, I posted about these earlier in the thread. Much nicer and easier to use. I got quite frustrated with the stupid buttons and close to returning the R6 before I got mine, now I love using it.

You have to change the preamp setting in the PEQ to -5.4db as you have boosted some of the frequencies by that much, otherwise it would over-drive. Swings and roundabouts, boosting some frequencies effectively reduces others.

Thanks, yes thought as much, sound is more rounded and sounds more natural. Annoying though as have lost around 15% of the volume but still do not need to go over 70 volume but as you said swings and roundabouts.

Just tested the R6 Pro Ii after 200hrs burn in and I think it is now settled. It surely gained soundstage and a fullness of sound that was not there out of the box. Still neutral but natural and with a bit of warmth to avoid any dryness or sibilance. Actually pretty smooth but clear.

I tested the R6 with denon d9200 out of 4.4/class A and it drives them pretty well with really nothing missing in the sound. However, D9200 are notoriously easy to drive headphones so I can see R6 struggling with harder to drive full size headphones.

I also tested the 4.4 LO with C9 and compared with N7 LO. C9 in tubes mode/class AB (my favourite mode). With D9200 R6 LO is a *smidge smoother and warmer than N7 LO while N7 LO is a *smidge clearer and more articulate . Also, I noticed that out of N7 LO, C9 soundstage gains *slightly more depth than out of R6 LO.

I wrote smidge and slightly because the differences are not really night and day and I see people being happy with either N7 or R6 with C9. I still prefer N7 with C9 due to maybe the sinergy of the two but I must say the R6 pro ii LO is surely of high quality.

Considering the features, the sound and the very snappy performance of the Android on the R6 which even exceeds N7 and can compete with more expensive units such as Shanling M9 or dx320, I think R6 Pro ii is a very accomplished dap, the only downsides being battery life, power (if you want to drive hard to drive headphones) and ergonomics of side buttons. Anyway, R6 can trade blows with all daps under 2k.
