Hi and thank you for getting back to me so quickly. I found the problem. It’s the poweramp app. After my last FDR, I only downloaded QoBuz. Nothing else. And the streaming playback is working just fine. No problems with 16/44.1, 24/44, 24/48 or 24/96. The minute I downloaded poweramp (which I paid for the premium version) the playback issues started again. At least we found the issue and I’m only out $6. I’ll try to find another android EQ that doesn’t mess with streaming, but for now I’m happy enough without one. Getting to know my gear a little better without it anyway.
Thanks so much for reaching out and for the help!
Peace,
Chris
Have you explored the systemwide audio DSP options built into the player? MSEB for one. Convolver (which can copy any parametric EQ profile and more besides, but takes some work) for another. My vaunted DRX10K (😅) for another: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/introducing-the-all-new-hiby-drx10k.968627/

I am forced to toggle an option (I don’t remember the option in settings as I don’t have the DAP with me right now) in Hiby music settings when I want to hear a file that is above 88KHz, otherwise it is limited to it and just passes max 88KHz. The problem is that if that option is active, I can not hear any other app (apple music or spotify). So I have to go back to hiby music and turn off again that option.

I am almost sure that in 1.30 Hiby music was able to do this automatically and pass bitperfect audio to the external DAC/Amp without any toggles in the settings.
Is this the right behavior in this DAP software, if I want to listen lets say 5MHz dsd files connected to an external DAC/Amp?

The weird thing is that with Apple Music I am able to listen in 192KHz via the external DAC/Amp with no problem.
Is it the one called Exclusive HQ USB audio access?

@Joe Bloggs

Just started using the DRX10K Dynamics. Really useful especially with malleable IEM's. Nice one. Could suit those with hearing difficulties.
Suits my Penon 10th Anniversary IEM.
Thanks for the compliments. Don't know what hearing difficulties have to do with it though 🤔

I don't have any hearing difficulties (other than that which comes with being over 40 yo) and find it quite useful. I might have tended to move the treble DR change to below 0 when I was combating what sounded like widespread sibilance in my 20s, instead of above 0 now, though 😆

A couple of guys on here have said they have some hearing problems, so was trying to highlight it and suggest it for them.
It immediately gave a bass kick that MSEB would find it harder to get to. 😉😂🤣

What is supposed way to prepare such profile?
Easiest way would be through https://autoeq.app if it has your earphones

1. Select your earphones (and matching settings, if any).
2. Select your equalizer target (e.g. Harman In-Ear 2019 e.g. for in-ears).
3. Select Convolution EQ as the output, choose your sample rate (usually one output for 44100 and one for 48000Hz, then click the download button.

Otherwise, the process consists of running a base impulse through the equalizer of your choice (set to the desired equalization), recording the output (usually digitally), then cropping the output file into an appropriate impulse. Easier done than said once you get the hang of it.

That it does, in fact I think the kind of bass kick offered by the DRX10K is irreplaceable by any EQ :) (for technical reasons I expounded on elsewhere 😂)

Yeah that is the one. Is this the expected behavior in a DAP such as R6III?? I would understand it in phone using the app Hiby music, but on a Hiby DAP I find it frustrating.
Thanks Joe!
I think that is always required for bit-perfect output from the app, and you should exit the app using the Exit button on the swipe-right menu in the app to release the USB port for other apps. If you say you didn't need to do this before, I'm a bit stumped as to what has changed.

Also, if the system seems to be becoming flaky after successive firmware updates, it may be advisable to perform a factory reset after backing up your data and removing any inserted SD card. Sorry about that.

If it's the Poweramp equalizer app acting systemwide, that would be trying to act on audio passing through the Android audio stack... which is being bypassed on our version of the OS. Weird things can happen, no doubt. Sorry about that.

It is the next indirect vote for the native system-wide PEQ (except for our direct ones).

Thanks for the confirmation, annoying, isn't it. I have work-arounds but would prefer to use the apps for the extra features.
We just tested the app, latest from google play, working on our R6 III from a US IP address. Has the situation changed on your end?

With the new update of Google services, Global Radio Player, LBC Radio. and BBC Sounds are now all working on the latest firmware (after the Factory Reset).
