We just tested the app, latest from google play, working on our R6 III from a US IP address. Has the situation changed on your end?
I upgraded to 1.31,did a full factory reset and yes, I'm pleased to report that the apps now work here on a UK IP address and the text in Audio Settings is correct again.

If it's the Poweramp equalizer app acting systemwide, that would be trying to act on audio passing through the Android audio stack... which is being bypassed on our version of the OS. Weird things can happen, no doubt. Sorry about that.
Indeed, I tried Poweramp Equalizer and a few other EQ apps and all of them go through the Android stack and limit audio to 44KHz. This is why I'm so keen for you to move the EQ/PEQ sections from the Hiby music player to System Wide (and do the same for the Pro II please). Hopefully it's not too difficult to do that, although it may mean a separate version of the player for Hiby devices as it would presumably not work anywhere else.

For those of you who want to add a little 'kick' to the HiBy R6 III sound, the DRX10K plug in is very special. As it says it adds 'Dynamics'. The basic sound of the R6 III is very pleasing and satisfactory, but having tested out the DRX10K plug in I can say it really adds some 'punch' to the basic sound. Very impressed @Joe Bloggs.

Not enough talk about the sound of the HiBy R6 III on this thread.

Being an owner of the R5 gen 2
, R6 GEN 111, R8, and RS2 I can say Hiby don't make a bad sounding player all have wonderful sound signatures every one of them brings something different to the table and have special synergy with certain iems.

I still have a very working OG HiBy R5 which had the supreme form factor, the perfect size. When I got the R6 III I was quite surprised at the clean, clear sound and at the solidity of build. If I want it to sound like a 'different' DAP using the DRX10, which is in the 'plug in' section, the DRX10 can do that. HiBy has really hit the Jackpot in price/performance here, with the R6 III, and as you say......the whole line up.

Am I the only one so awkward that I can't quickly press the pause button without looking when the player is in a red leather case? Is stock transparent case better? What is your experience?

where do I need to vote?)) although I don’t have R6 specifically, it will also be very useful for my R6 Pro 2.
As far as Joe is here, you have already voted, I guess.

Hiby Music App still crashing with no apparent reason (compared to all other music apps installed).
After all the updates it's frustrating and incomprehensible, considering it's the Main App included in the player !
Yes after a few days of working fine mine still crashes especially if playing playlists or choosing to alter volume while a song is playing. It's a real shame, I've moved onto using another dap because of this waiting for yet another firmware update to fix it.
