@Joe Bloggs
Hi Guys, I am facing an unique issue.

After reading all the good reviews, recently purchased the Hiby R6 gen3. Out of the box it was at FW 1.2; updated it immediately and started playing music after transferring mp3/flac files on an external micro SD card and also to internal memory.
I am mostly using Bluetooth speakers/headphones because of the convenience and I understand that while Bluetooth streaming all the internal circuitry is by passed. So what is happening is - while the song is playing, lets say at any XYZ volume, suddenly for a fraction of a second the volume dips to about 10 and then comes back to normal to what it was playing at.
So example I am at any volume 70/60/50 etc. it will dip to about 10 (barely audible, but still can hear music) for half a second and then come back to what it was originally set at. This happens once in 30 minutes, not at fixed intervals but still happens!!!
I am presently at FW 1.31 and have done all the factory reset and all those procedures but still this problem persists.
I have tried various different speakers and headphones, I have tried different SD Cards and also internal memory and also tried spotify/youtube but still this happen.
If I use wired headphones or speakers then this doesnt happen.

Is any one facing similar issue? Have you found a fix? I have also reported this to Faye at HIBY headquarters.

Please let me know of any solutions, if you have any.

Cheers
Rahul
It does seem a weird issue indeed. So for example, it happens even after a fresh reset, just playing music files stored on the device or SD card?

All my issues have cleared up after clearing the app cache and doing a factory reset so very happy again.

I wish there were an easier way. We do have some examples of devices with the bug with the name after updating, now, but as mentioned, trying to reproduce the issue is difficult in that one cannot go backwards on a device that's acquired the issue to see what was up with it before the update.

Even the momentarily freeze in Hiby Music app?
I might try that as well... although setting everything up again is a PITA.

Yes it was painful resetting everything especially as I use a different launcher but it fixed ALL my issues with playback.

I've reset my R6G3 to factory and it fixed Hiby Music freezes but some apps like DI.Fm and HypeMachine still crashes on open.

Thanks for the tip @PeacockObscura

After my factory reset the MSEB name has returned. The R6 III hardware is fantastic and with 4gb of RAM, very usable. I  it.
On June 15th 2020 I bought the HiBy R5 on AliExpress from the HiBy store, with a case (in the sale) for £217.39p and it is still going strong. As far as form factor goes the OG R5 is perfect, still holds a charge....and sounds great. How lucky we are. All I need now is a quality transportable CD player for my CD collection with a good headphone out. Will HiBy ever become nostalgic and make one?

Also a big fan of the OG R5... In fact I recently bought an R5s in the closeout sale as a backup...

Is your hearing issue different per channel? I think per-channel PEQ would be a ways off, you may be better off putting together a convolver for your use with my help. Pm me
It is, but my hearing problems are mainly old age related so I'm not too concerned about per-channel, what I really want is system-wide PEQ as not only would it save me a lot of work but apps like YouTube and radio stations can't be EQed so sound wrong to me. Given that you have a good EQ built into the Hiby player, hopefully it wouldn't be too hard to move it to system-wide.

Talking of radio apps, I'm in the UK and 'BBC Sounds', 'Global Player Radio & Podcasts', and 'LBC Radio' apps don't work, they start then immediately crash. I see carlosedp saying that DI.fm doesn't work as well so there's clearly a problem in that area. Could this be looked at and is it the case with the R6 Pro II? (I'm thinking of upgrading). I tried factory reset but that didn't fix it and I'm still on 1.30 due to the problems reported with 1.31.

I was going to try connecting my USB CD drive to my R player via USB and see what happens (would need to connect its power supply cable to a separate USB power bank) but ran out of cables D:

Very often, when you have problems of this type, it's up to the application developers to deal with the problem.
Compatibility (with devices) is one of the reasons why your applications are updated every week on Android.
The best thing to do is to send them a message to report the problem.

Of course, there could be a bug on the Hiby side, but when you have the vast majority of applications running without problems and some crash, it's best to talk to their creators first.

I exclusively use my Daps for playing flac files from sd and in that respect the R6111 is now working perfectly I have many much more expensive players that don't sound as good as the R6111 and with Android 12 on board it's way more future proof than any bar the Sony M1a which is unhindered by the march of time being minus Android.
You can mark me down as a happy camper.

I thought maybe HiBy had the means to create a small portable, high quality, CD Player, and transportable. Many middle age and older folks still have CD collections and a couple of companies are developing small CD players of high quality. It would be an exciting project.

Well, I would rip my CDs to one of our Android R DAPs, to e.g. make use of the MSEB, DRX10K and the Convolver, never mind being able to switch between any number of CDs with the flick of a finger. But that's just me. Who knows, HiBy may be developing just the thing? :)

I agree... while it's cool and nostalgic to handle physical things like changing a CD to listen to music... the convenience to have everything available to you all the time just a tap away can't be beat.

I'm 100% with you Joe... rip them all and carry the R6 G3 with a 1TB SDCard in it :D
