I received my blue R6 III recently and immediately installed an SD card with music in several different formats. When using the Hiby music app, I've found that playback will just stop partially through a song. I copied the same files to my Rockbox'd iPod and playback is flawless. I've been advised to install a different player such as PoweAmp, so I did, but now I'm getting the same playback error with a message saying that 'PoweAmp was killed'. I've also gotten the 'file not found' error after selecting an album, and also had the Hiby app crash or fail to start. I updated the firmeware right out of the box, and have only installed Auidble, Spotify and PoweAmp (all were installed after I started getting the playback error in the Hiby app).

This is the first Hiby I've owned, and previously I had a Fiio X5 III where I used the Hiby software. Has anyone else had this issue? I've only had the thing for two weeks and I'm about ready to sell or return it.

Sounds like something I went through. A restart worked for me. Although I haven't added new music since I last had the issue. Once I get a new album I might try again. But I think I'll be using the wifi upload feature.

I would recommend testing your SD card with this app first https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=alan.sdcardsize.free

Almost ready to pull the trigger on this, but can foresee myself getting unreasonably irked by the cyan cast of the screen.

I know night mode is an option, but has anyone had any success installing the Color Calibrator app? This seems the obvious fix if the Hiby version of Android allows such things.

When I first got mine, I installed an SD card and from the settings menu formatted it as external card. Then I removed it and plugged it in to my Windows PC, transferred music over, which was mostly flac but also some DSD files. I then put it back in the player and scanned it with HiBy music app and it has never missed a beat. Quality is fabulous through my Brainwavs IEMs using the balanced output.

I use Poweramp Equalizer, the paid version. I think it was $5 or something. It's been awhile. It allows complete customization of the band frequency and number of bands. It has MANY features and you can customize almost everything about it. This FAQ helped me alot - https://forum.powerampapp.com/forum/31-using-the-equalizer-qa/
I finally got Poweramp EQ working (see below) but it looks as if it downgrades Hi-Res files to 44.1KHz like all the other EQ apps I've tried. Is that that case with yours or did you find a way around it?

(For anyone else trying to get Poweramp Equalizer working, you need to enable Developer Options (go to Settings > About Device > scroll down to the bottom then tap Firmware Version about 7 times, it now appears under System) and enable USB Debugging, then go to Poweramp EQ's settings > Equalizer > Advanced Player Tracking and enable both options. The easiest way to do this is via their web browser tool - connect the R6 to your computer and go to https://powerampapp.com/webadb in a Chrome-based browser. It now works system-wide.)

As a follow up to my message above, I have been talking to the UAPP dev and he tells me it's just not possible to intercept the audio stream outside of the player to allow overriding SRC, therefore all system-wide EQ apps will down-sample to 44.1 or 48KHz. Shame.

Nice catch! I turn on Dev options as soon as I turn on a new Android device so I'd forgotten I had taken this step when it came to Poweramp EQ setup.

I got the brown HiBy case for the R6 III today. Fits well. The main thing is that it makes access to the volume wheel a lot easier than the supplied condom case. The HiBy R6 III is a serious DAP. Very high level, and using class A amplification the sound quality belies it's price. A real winner in every way.

Totally agree, even with owning N7 I pick up R6 III. Size, weight and sound. Solid performance for a good price.

The brown leather is nice, also so much better feel to it 👌 and wheel a little more accessible

had nothing but problems since yesterday.

Qobuz decided to stop recognising the offline music I had saved to the sd card.

Tidal just freezes and crashes constantly also takes about 3 mins to start playing from offline playlist.

The dap just crashed and had to do a hard reset. Now Qobuz isn’t recognising the re-downloaded offline library again. Trying to uninstall and reinstall Qobuz and tidal, but it’s just stuck on uninstalling message.

Update: Managed to sort it. Ordered a better, faster sd card. I will format it on my pc rather than the dap and see if it makes a difference with Qobuz. I’ve given up with tidal, the app just sucks. Qobuz is smooth and runs well - it’s just the issue with the offline library on sd card.

If I continue to have the same issue with the offline library being stored on the sd card, at least I can use my phone as a mobile hotspot for WiFi and just stream music rather than play stored files (when I’m not at home/within range of my home Wi-Fi) The dap sounds too good compared to my dongles to give up on it.

Good morning
I have a new hiby r6 lll and I’m having a problem with offline content in both Tidal and Deezer. It’s buffering or something like that.
I’ll include pictures of my ssd and internal storage.

Is it real leather or a faux leather/non-animal hide?

I’m thinking of ordering it, but I don’t want animal hide. So, I won’t purchase it, if it’s real leather.

Thanks. I’d order the green if it’s not real as I prefer the colour. I can’t find any details anywhere that states it’s genuine leather. I think it might be polyurethane leather, which is synthetic. But, I need to be sure first.

I quite like not having a case on it and have never used a case on my phone, but one slip and I can’t see it ending well if it hits the floor outside due to its weight.
