hmm.....after further observation, it looks like the behaviour is if the charger plugged in, on battery it does goes off. Sorry false alarm!
You are on Windows 10 so try this - skip step 1. Do not install Qualcomm driver (if you already install it, please uninstall it and restart computer just to make sure). Start with step 2. Connect R6 to computer, wait to see charging screen and then press "Power", "Volume +" and "Volume -" simultanously. Windows should detect and install correct Qualcomm driver. Then you can proceed to step three (make sure to check COM port) and it should update without problems.
does anyone else have other suggestions on how to get the R6 out of boot loop?
I've tried all different combos of volume + power but still cannot get into recovery mode.
It will only go into this screen.

Not a process I want to do again, but it feels good to have been able to get it done. Thanks for the comment you left here. Super helpful.
Still no luck with getting android robot screenThere would be a few options to cycle through on this screen using the volume buttons. So instead of Power off in big letters something else would show and pressing the power button would do that instead. Does "Recovery" show up as any of the options?
As for volume+ plug power to go into recovery, please follow these instructions VERY carefully:
1. with the R6 powered off, first press and hold the volume + button
2. now, with the volume + button held down, also press and hold the power button
3. When the HiBy logo comes on, RELEASE both buttons after a few seconds. Otherwise this will fail.
When the robot lying on its back shows,
1. press and hold the power button,
2. with the power button held down, press the volume + button once
You will enter the recovery menu.

The other recovery screen I see other than power off are “start” “restart bootloader” and “recovery mode” but all of these just go back to boot loop screen.

I'll try this at home later this week since I'm in Tokyo now.It sounds like even the recovery partition was corrupted. As a last resort for fixing this on your own, you may try "updating" to oreo or marshmallow from scratch using my instructions on page 349: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/hib...unded-indiegogo.852042/page-349#post-14703786

Sorry to hear that. It sounds like a trip to the factory is the only thing that can be doneGot admin access
I was able to go through the instructions
Once it got to 100% and the R6 restarted, it's still going through boot loop.
