Just got my R6 2020 but I can't find a way to download firmware. Yes I can update firmware via OTA but I need firmware file to extract boot.img and root the device.

Extract boot.img direct from the device with QFIL in EDL mode. Check out NP Audio boards for more info and the firehose config. I have not seen a full firmware, only patch OTAs, but QFIL works just fine.

Thanks a lot! It was hard (and required Windows) but it was worth the effort.

Cool. Glad you got there. Let us know if you discover anything worth playing with. JamesDSP and Viper both will work now.

Hi.
New to this thread although I have the R6 20 from preorder. I have done a previous search but I have not seen similar posts. Something that I have always noticed is that the file transfer is slow. It is supposed to have USB 3 but it is slower than other DAPs I have when it comes to transferring files to SD. I use MediaMonkey 5 to sync, but my Sony WM1A transfers faster on USB 2. I've checked possible USB settings... but I can't find any possible improvement. Any ideas?

Has anyone tried the new firmware yet?

Last photo before letting it go to new owner. It has been great but I got a strikingly good deal on HiBy RS6 (which I was originally looking for but it was a bit expensive) so I'm saying goodbye. Great size (fits great in my school uniform pocket) and great sound but I'm moving up. At least RS6 shares the same chassis design with R6.

Did anyone compare the new hiby r6 with FiiO M11 plus LTD? They're representing similar price levels and both do candidates for mid-price daps. I am curious about the differences in SQ likewise everyday usage.

Hey guys, any advice would be appreciated. My well cared for R62020 won’t read my SD card and it won’t put out any audio via the audio ports (balanced, single ended or line out. Bluetooth works tho.) A factory reset didn’t fix it nor did toggling any of the audio settings off and on. Anyone else expedited this? Any idea what happened and how I might fix it?

I had a similar situation. What I needed to do was a full reset in Android recovery mode.

These were steps given to me by MusicTeck. They worked and the device is still running normally now.

While the device is powered on:
1. Press Power button and select Restart
2. When Restart starts, Press and hold the Skip Prev button (above Play button)

You will enter the screensaver for recovery mode, which looks like an Android lying on its back with its chest open, with the words "No command" underneath.

To enter Android Recovery mode:
1. Press and hold the power button
2. While holding the power button, press the Skip Prev button once again.

In there, use Volume wheel to navigate and power button to select. Run the following:
1. Wipe data/factory reset
