Hey guys - I'm looking to get a pair of open back headphones with great imaging, detail, decent soundstage, and some goddamn authority. The HD600 is lacking in the authority dept for me. I run out of an iBasso DX80 and chord mojo. The beo H6 is what I use for commutes and it works well. I'm leaning towards maybe the hifiman he560. Thoughts?
Yes! Skip the 560 and go grab the new MrSpeakers AEON Flow Open. It's going to exceed all your expectations. I'm one of only a small handful of people with one right now, but since the press embargo just ended yesterday, I can tell you:
- The bass is fantastic. You want some goddamn authority, it's going to give it to you. I'm genuinely surprised at how good it is.
- The mids and treble leave me with virtually nothing to complain about. I can't say the same for the 560, or just about any sub $1K headphone.
- Soundstage and imaging will exceed your expectations. Give it about 150 hours of burn in, and they really open up.
- Detail and clarity are as good as you are going to find at $799 without switching to an electrostatic setup or getting a great deal on a used flagship.
- They are easy to drive and the Mojo and DX80 will absolutely get the job done.
This is a great piece of kit, and based on your question, should be exactly what you're looking for.
