I just saw someone with a pair of K 271 out in the street yesterday. Rather surprising!

... and just today, there was a girl with HD465s walking down the lane, while I was wearing my HD280s. I complimented her cans and was allowed to audition for a while. Quite nice sound. I was surprised concerning the fact that although being open (and her music was pretty loud), they did not leak as much as I thought.

Saw a couple of pairs of PortaPros, some Klipsch X1s and *gasp* Westone 3s. I was amazed. My staring at people's ears as they pass has finally paid off.

it's really hard for me to spy on people's ears during rush hour in downtown chicago. but i can say that it is (of course) dominated by ibuds. after those, come quite of bit of bose in-ears, and for some reason i've been seeing lots of sony MDREX85.

supra-aural style are dominated by various sony's, whether headband or clip-on. probably bose quiet comforts come next.

around-the-ear is dominated by bose trip-ports, and then a couple monster beats studios.

overall, it seems that the people who are willing to spend a little more on non-stock headphones don't really do much reasearch and trust that the $50-$200 they spend at the local chain retailer is worth it.

oh well, on a plus note, the best i've spotted was a dude with ue triple.fi 10's last week. those are easy to see b/c of their frankenstein look and crazy blue color. but that's about the best i've seen since i've been ear-stalking people. i'll keep looking.

I saw a pair of Sennheiser IE8 in Cologne today while riding the subway.
These look seriously low-profile, I almost didn't notice them at all!

It's pretty much the only high-end phone I have seen in public though, apart from a HD25.
Otherwise I occasionally see some PortaPros and PX100s at least.

"distinctive" is a perfect word here

Last week i saw one guy with SR80 on - you don't see Grados here in Vienna often.

I also saw once with HD650 in the underground (probably just being smartarse) and another with DT770 in my university (I can understand that).

People wear here mostly Skullcandys, I see also AKG's K518 (specially the LE - colourful limited edition). The Porta Pro's also shows once in awhile.

I saw Portapros last week, that was surprising.

I also saw some Monster Beats Tours, which are always easy to spot with the flat red wires.

I've seen a couple of Grados around, but mostly it's the crappy iBuds or Sony MDR-V150 on ear headphones, unfortunately.

I've only recently started looking at other people's HPs...you see a lot of the better ones at airports...
on my recent visit to NYC, i saw these at airports:
some small JVC closed HPs.
PX200
all kinds of Sony cheapos
best sighting: Audio Technica ES7 (inside a plane), i was disappointed it was the white version

I'm starting to see a lot of WeSC around. They pop up in all sorts of clothing stores. No wonder.

Obvious PortaPro ripoffs.

Jecklin Float ripoffs? Who would have guessed these are fashionable?

The Maraca remind me of STAX earspeakers, and the Oboe reminds me of the O2. That's stretching it though, can hardly call them ripoffs.

The fellas sure did their research! Or decided to look up "vintage headphones" on ebay and look for something that didn't look like Dragonballs.

I saw a pair of HD202's. They look pretty cumbersome portably.
