How do I mount this: http://mouser.com/ProductDetail/Neutrik/NC4FD-L-1/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMv0W4pxf2HiV0%252bKdhvD8lQRC5NTWHoQ%252bkg%3d
And this: http://mouser.com/ProductDetail/Neutrik/NJ3FP6C/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMv0W4pxf2HiVy2l1tTxTkO1sO3spQtVUTc%3d

What do I need to do to mount those, say I have a metal box, which sizes of holes, etc?
Any other product you recommend?

Also how about binding posts? http://www.ebay.com/itm/4p-5-WAY-Audio-Amplifier-TERMINAL-Dual-BINDING-POST-RBD-cc-/331102234150

And this now we are at it: http://mouser.com/ProductDetail/NKK-Switches/M2042SS4W03/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMvudeGI7i40XE7TRWgzF%252b47typrE%2fqgAq4%3d

Resistor box inspired by Rob's design

2 to connect to amplifier and 2 just for passing the signal.

I'm slowly figuring it out by myself, though. It seems I'll have a box made with the big holes for the xlr and trs pre-made, then drilling the rest by myself.

So, for the switch and binding posts I suppose I'll just drill some holes in the right size.

Oh yea guys, go with the 220ohm 5W 1% inline resistors for attenuation! Listening levels are now around 12 o'clock on the volume knob.

I have the internal cable from the TRS jack connected by spades to the back terminals. What would be the best way to mount these resistors? Could I put them across the external terminals? I am still pretty fuzzy on this.

^ Ahh, i got you now.  You are on the right track about the holes and mounting.

I might opt for this box

Solder one end of the resistors to the TRS jack left and right tabs then the other to the left and right wire in the cable going to your spade connectors. Then the ground to the ground tab on the TRS jack.

Here's the graphic. The larger ohm value resistors (R2) would be soldered to the TRS jack Tip (L+) and Ring (R+). The smaller value resistors (R3) would be soldered both from the TRS Sleeve (combined ground, L- and R-) with one connecting to L+ and one connecting to R+.

Thats for the "preferred network" version. I just used single inline resistors, one per channel.

  Sorry ben,

I didn't realize you were going with just the inline resistors.

Rob

Well I had meant to do the preferred network, but Mouser didnt have the 1 ohms in stock and the 7 ohm was physically huge. I had some other stuff I had to get from there so I was somewhat limited. Ill check out Newark or Digi-Key next time I place orders there but I think for now Im done opening up and messing with this mini-X. I have already done a lot more to it than I should have.

I got 1, 2, 6 and 7 ohm resistors from mouser, ordered a moment ago. Got everything to make the box i want from mouser except binding posts which I got from eBay.
