As they do in mine now. I love the comfort. Now I have three reference cans until I get flak I will just keep them all

Quite the stable you've got!

^ I found the ear pads of the T1 firmer than I'd like. The ear cups of the HD800 were oversized to the extent that the ear pads didn't actually touch my ears and felt too large on my head. The HD800 was the more comfortable headphone overall for me. Neither headphone felt as though it was constricting or squashing my ears.

Do both of them have big ear pads that don't squash your ears ?

The HD800 is a lot bigger than the T1. Take a look at the first picture in my headphones album and you will see the difference.

The HD800 is the most comfortable phone I ever owned and so light and for Classical music I love them more so than the planar but man the float hardly notice they are on. Soundstage to die for IMO the best soundstage of the three I own.

I just came across my old post here about the "new" AKG flagships....sadly 16 months later all we have are the Quincy Q701s. Boy were we wrong!

In your best CSNY:

"...gonna be a long long long long time..."

I still enjoy the K1000/701 on occasion though

I've always wanted to try the K1000s. I have owned the K701s and began to really get a hate on for them. I think it's fair to say that Harmon has pretty much killed any innovation at AKG.

I agree about harmon. I thought the K701 was a good headphone when i owned it but does need the right setup. The bumps got to me after a couple hours but all in all I owned them over 1 year until i got insane.

And the new AKG flagship is basically a K701 with just a "Q" on the side. Glad I didn't wait for them and picked up my HD800s a year and a half ago.

I bet you would like the K701 if you heard it out of your Lyr.

The K1000 is a very nice option to have if you can drive an HE-6, but it's pretty picky if you want to get good dynamic extension out of it.

I'm in no rush to try the K701s again, but I bet the Lyr would be right up their alley. I would however love to try the K1000s. They are still one of the most unique headphones ever made IMO.
