These are fake right? But they sound so much better than my sennheiser hd228 which are definitely not fake  The bass is incredible .On the outside the look exactly like the originals nothing fishy there. I thought they were refurbs but original. Makes me wonder about the real deal,  if the fakes can sound this good!

They don't have the sticker... suspicious.

Alrite i've received my ATH-M50 today, purchased from accessoryjack, are these authorized sellers and do they sell genuine products? I have already unboxed the item and realized that i am missing the Warranty card that you usually would get with all Audio Technica products? Does this mean my item is fake or what? It came in the newer white box.

Accessory Jack is an authorized AT reseller for Hong Kong. It's legit so stop worrying and enjoy.

I picked up a used pair from eBay a few weeks back but I only discovered a lot of fake ones going around until now. Mine came from China, so I'm starting to wonder whether I might have picked up a fake pair. Sound quality seems to be pretty decent, but unfortunately I don't have access to a supposedly genuine pair to compare.

I disassembled the pad to check and mine look exactly like this one:

The circuit board on mine is green as well and it doesn't have the '125B' sticker either. So is that definite proof that those are the fake ones then?

Ok, yeah, unfortunatly you have fakes @ post #262.

@sutherland, you just cant tell. They are not from china which is good, plus they claim to be an authorized seller. Very easy to check on the ATH site soo..... check. They are priced like the real deal should be. I got mine for $90 from an authorized seller called proaudiomart after making an offer through the ebay offer thing. Im not sure if they still carry them though.

I think I know what the answer's going to be here -- but for the final nail in the coffin: Head-fi, are these fake?

I bought them on eBay. They arrived in the old style white and blue box (this is understandable, the seller never said they were brand new). The box contained no warranty card, is there supposed to be a warranty card in all ATH-M50 boxes?

Build quality seems good, none of the obvious flaws such as reversed logo. But the lack of warranty card made me suspicious, so I dismantled the pads. I think this confirms they are fake, but hopefully you can give me a definitive opinion that I can go to the seller with.

Cheers.

*sigh*. Thanks man, thought so. I'll get in touch with the seller - this should be fun...
