Grado PS500s (new Grado's)

What's your experience with it? My brief listen found it to be similar to the GS1000, though a touch smoother with less shout. I still feel like the midrange is missing something...

From all I read so far, I dont feel anything but sombre. The guy on the other review were right, they are just some kind of compromise model for those who were awaiting for much creamy sounding Grado.

Well, I dont blame John at all, he is making pretty smart move actually, business I mean, but for me, or would I say, my wallet, its not the happiest conclusion, cos only Grado I may concider at the moment still are PS1000.

Not perhaps...it is very much recessed compared to the bass and treble:

Back on topic, what about the PS500?  Is this graph supposed to be indicative of the 500 or just a supposition?

I still haven't seen the PS500 graph. I'd love to compare it to the HF-2 graph.

^^^

Never mind, Headroom just posted it:

Doesn't look as "good" as the HF-2 graph with more of a mid bass hump

, but both don't measure overly bright (a good thing for me):

I guess it's a good thing that graphs and my ears/brain don't match up.

Still more mid-bass hump and also more of treble spike on the GS1000s...in turn making the mids much more recessed:

oh yeah, GS1000, the first time I try it (around some months ago), I was thought if the drivers were broken, because I think no way grado would sounded like this

but after I put bowl pad to it, I think it's not really different than MS Pro (it's not the same, but have similiarities)

Thanks Peter. It would be interesting if someone could put the large PS/GS1000 pads on the PS500 and measure it.
