rhythmdevils, if you're willing to be the guinea pig to try out the PS500, I will re-order from Moon Audio and request that they sent to you. You can keep it for a month. I think it'll be interesting to hear your opinion since you've listened extensively to the SR200 with HP1000 driver.

In the AKG 701 case, yes the AKG can be plugged into an iphone. it will produce sound but it doesn't sound as good as when you pair it with an amplifier. So the sales person wasn't lying. In the PS500's case, yes the HF2 and PS500 look a lot in common, but how are they different? Grado's being very vague here. Could be the lettering, could be the type of aluminium used in the chamber, etc. In both cases, the sales reps were telling the truth but they worded their comments to mask the whole truth.

rhythmdevils suggested that you send them to me so I can measure them before I send them on to you. 

 I would only need them for a day.
 
I doubt the PS500 will have any similarities with the HP1000. Different driver technology from long ago and also major differences in voicing between Joe and John.

Am looking forward to hear the PS500 once they are out soon! Not really into PS1000 but GS1000 is one that attracted me a lot. Hope to see  
the PS500 with an affordable price tag, if not i'm going for HD 650 real soon..

The PS500 is already out apparently, but don't know how affordable it is at $595 USD if you compare it to the former HF2 at $429 price.

I think i shall wait for the model to arrive to my local headphones stores first for a listen before making decision. Hope it's performance and value can turn me out of my "HD 650 idea" !

I think he bought the 80 first, then the 325 later, and when he found out the 325 has plastic inside the cups, he hated the company ever since.
