i had no idea they looked like that. almost like fabric. to the naked eye mine have a smooth matt finish. i cannot see any specks. they actually look really cool in that photo. do yours have "nicks"?

No nicks that you can see with the naked eye, and certainty nothing you can feel to the touch.

At 1:1 macro with a Canon 50D 15 MP camera (ef 100/2.8 macro lens), I can see "things" on my 24" iMac's screen, but that's critical, any product will show something under that close of an inspection!

I did...but I changed my mind. I got to the conclusion that i prefer the grado sound and i extremely enjoying my RS1, so it will be a worthwhile investment.
I think the difference between the rs1 and the ps1000 will be more significant than the D5000- dx-1000.
this is what happens when you torn between two kinds of different and amzaing sound signatures, the grado sound and the denon sound.

Seems every PS1000 has its own unique finish, so you might change your mind.
