The Hifiman Svanar Wireless connects to the Fiio BT11 flawlessly and sounds incredible using LDAC.

ADDENDUM: To my old ears, AAC isn't too far off and the connection is better.

Interesting. I wonder if it’s the adapter. I have the Creative BT-W6 and Denon Perl Pros’. To my somewhat old ears (50ish), aptX Lossless sounds a lot better than AAC listening to the remastered “Up to Here” album from The Tragically Hip. Loving Gord’s vocals.

The Svanar are pretty powerful, the DAC in them are probably helping on the iPhone. Waiting on the W6' so it'll be fun to compare and contrast without too many expectations.

Ooooh, big spender. Should be a good comparison.

Yes, the DAC in the Svanar is really good from the short test I had with them. The Perl Pros’ tick almost all my boxes. You know how it is, we either settle or chase the dragon for years. 😀

Apple airpods 4 ANC.
oEUr7qi.jpeg

Using it on a Google pixel 9 pro fold Android phone. ANC is pretty good for an open type design. It effectively eliminates soft whirring sounds like air-conditioning and fan. Loud low rumble like bus engines still get through, as do voices. Transparency mode sounds similar to turning off the ANC and let in the same amount of ambient sound. Soundstage is wider than the airpods pro 2 due to its open design.

They have prominent mid bass and not much sub bass. Mids are clear and sounds natural. Highs are smooth and not sibilant, but they do sound thin. Turning up the treble range a few notches in Wavelet brings out the highs and makes it more resolving. Overall a warm sounding pair of earbuds.

The fit is dependent on the user's ears, since there are no rubber sleeve of different sizes to accommodate to different ears. They are made up of hard plastic, but they are surprisingly quite comfortable and secure in my ears. Battery life is pretty decent with about 4.5 to slightly less than 5 of hours of playtime with ANC turned on. The case is tiny, there's no more physical pairing button, pairing is done by double tapping the area below the case's LED light.

Can’t trust AliExpress 11.11 prices to be the lowest … had my eyes on those Melobuds as a replacement for wife’s Baseus Bowie M2s (she complains that other people have buds with cases to cutely dangle off bags) and thought they might drop a bit, instead they went up from yesterday by nearly 10% from 27.48$

That's not just an IEM, it is a system.

Yes, a system that allows you to use them, just like a cable and tips on 'normal' IEMs allow you to use them. Ridiculous nonsense, basically.

I know, I know - it's all relative, blah blah, but spending $15k on an IEM is one of the most sphincter-clenching, obscene displays of wealth I have come across here. Hey guys, maybe get two, in case you leave one at the gym!

Question for those Bowers and Wilkins fans, did these guys ever update their software or have firmware updates?
B&W rarely (almost never) release firmware updates, form time to time (rarely too) release software updates, never in the 3 years using pi7/pi8 release software/firmware to add features, only to fix some major issues. Actually this is the most weakest thing about this company and their products

Yeah, I read a while back Apple UK snatched many of their top sound Engineers. Maybe they still haven’t recovered. Probably offered a sweet deal.
