Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

And why would you (or anyone) prefer a neckband over earhooks?
My Hiby is 21 grams and can fold up into a smaller case or pocket than some earhooks. AK4331 has enough pop and good battery life. I can just wear it around no taking in and out of a case or carrying a case if I don't want to. Easier to use spaced 3 button controls than some of the earhooks controls and thinner around the ears works better with glasses. A bit better range on the distance and possible less chance of cutout issues when turning the head.

Also, what is the difference between the Falcon Max and the Fokus Triumph for all of you in the know? I haven't seen a clear list of what is different and what's the same in both of those earbuds, except that they both seem to be 1st gen xMEMS earbuds from Noble Audio of course.
I take it that the Falcon is aimed towards Asia and the Triumph against the Western markets/the US, but... What else?

Falcon Max is sold in Japan

FoKus Triumph is sold essentially world wide.

thanks for posting. looking forward to checking these out - they fix most of my niggles with the MTW3 - better battery life, better ANC, better call quality. the only thing they didn't fix is the case size. the Auracast looks interesting but will probably be a while before it's all implemented, and by then these will be older and used with not as good battery life.

I'll look forward to the next gen of the new solid state drivers in 2025 for my next TWS after that, or demo a set out somewhere first. I've learned all too well how the hype train is a let down a bunch of the time. I remember when the AZ60 was the flavor of the week, or a couple weeks, and how great it was in this thread, among many other IEM that had that honor of being the newest flavor for a week to a few weeks. I bought into that, and honestly, they are mediocre. Chased the dragon way too many times with this stuff due to the hype train.

If they are indeed the same size/shape as before (going by that video in his ears they looks the same and touch the same parts) then I cannot wear them as they give me really painful outer ears.

IMO they are suited more to smaller ears/canals and even then I can only get them to stay in long enough for that using 3rd party wings or they come loose.

So much for now being owned by a hearing aid company, hope I never need one of theirs.

that's too bad. overall though, comfort with those IEM's was no more a problem than it is for most IEM's that work for most people. they were on par with most other TWS that worked well in general for most ears.

also, Sonova's products hearing aid products are a completely different form factor and very well-respected in that product niche. you should take a look at how they work, they don't fit like IEM at all. in fact the well regarded Costco branded hearing aids are a Sonova product.

Many here had fit issues same on Amazon UK/US comments all seem to point to the size/shape of outer part of the earbuds but if you have smaller ears they will simply stick out a little more and not touch those parts.

Not TWS but if you like this style as well they will be coming soon...

Mondo Freestyle. BT5.3 22 hours of battery life and 36mm driver in 4 colors including a clear and pink for the girls.

for just 'retro' on the cheap there is the Jlab Rewind for 20$ ... it does the job ok. But I am always curious about new entries to this niche ... (The Sony SBH60 are / were also great in that regard, hard to find now)

Interestingly .. it took some digging, but apparently the Jlab are also 36mm drivers. But older BT 4.2

I wouldn’t believe them about AtpX HD.
I have KZ VXS Pro with QCC 5171 SoC and there is no AptX HD support in it. But the seller argues that they have AptX HD. And the manufacturer claims that they are AptX HD capable. But not.
I tested on two AptX HD capable phones, one Aptx Adaptive phone and one laptop with AptX HD.

My wife's ear canals are amazingly small, I'd say abnormally small, and the shape of her concha is fairly strange as well. She isn't really a candidate for an in ear type product - but an open ear

That is the winner for her.

I really find open style tws to offer a lot of freedom as well.

They just sit in the drawer. Controls are horrible. The charge port that is under the foam pads is just as bad as the one button control and IIRC the headphone side of the plug is standard but made skinnier so other charge cables may not fit the recessed port. Creative Jam V2 is the superior product but the next size up with aptX/HD/LL and BT5.0 and multipoint. It has 32mm drivers and 22 hours of battery. Plus USB cable in power and actual buttons including a separate bass mode button. The Creative is 99 grams and the Jlab is 57. Also micro USB vs. the Creatives USB C. Have them both in my hands and the balance is better on the Creative. Both in the hand and on the head the Creative feels near as light as if it is more 75G to 57g. Throw in the creative has more clamp and stays on the head while the metal headband of the JLab will slide forward or back if you are any kind of active. Surprised JLab never made a follow up to address that bad design. :)

Nobody's mentioned this but for me it's call quality for the person/ group on the other end of the line since the mic is closer to your mouth. The one thing TWS lacks is this and I can tell the difference on my zoom/ jabber work group calls where everyone is on speaker. A cheap corded samsung earphone sounds much better to them let alone a proper bluetooth over the headset with a boom mic. I usually lie down during these long calls and an overhead headset is uncomfortable for me so a neckband is the next best thing.

Now by saying that can anyone recommend a neckband with a great mic and that has a mute/ unmute button?
