Actually the MF02S sounds good using the GK80 it isn't as bad as I initially thought. Again more neutral in presentation. The funny thing is I know how the player supposed to sound it is more analoguish in presentation full bodied big expansive sound. But the GK80 sounds more neutral on it.

So I suppose if you want a more neutral presentation with less bass you gotta purposefully look for a higher output player.

I agree with the previous post about impressions of these might be all over the place due to the very low 8 ohm impedence.

I ordered one of those Dunu branded 30 ohm impedance plugs off AliExpress; ~ 17 euro iirc. There are other brands for less.

With that said, I regularly use the GK10 on a balanced cable led straight to my PowerDAC, which is about ~ 600 milliwatts at 16 ohms. There's some line level hiss but they sound great after the volume comes up. ⚡

Just ordered too. Let´s see if they are a really improvment over Gk10.

Nice review. Bet you wanted to rate higher than 4 stars (not that 4 is bad) when cable tips and source all come together to get the best out of them.

I appreciated what was achieved with the GK10 although didn't completely love it, so am keen to hear how much improvement has been made.

My GK80 has left HK - fingers crossed I'll have it in the next week or so.

I purchased the GK80. Wanted to give them a second chance and see if they improved.
Not a fan of the design choice of keeping the plastic heart shell. The new CCA's and KZ's shells look far more premium and cost very little.

If they tweaked the tuning and removed the bloat, they have potential.

The advantage of the gk10 plastic shell is the light weight.
I hardly feel them on my ears.
But, It doesn't seem solid/durable.

I never perceived bloat on my set. There was a definite fullness to the midbass and lower mids but without it overtly obscuring detail. I suspect that fullness will remain but what I'm hoping for is a more forward upper midrange to balance it out.

So I clearly put it on the negative portion of the review about the cable that comes with the GK80. In a way it is kinda brilliant. There are limitations on just how much you can throw in a sub $50 IEM package but these cables being the worse tangle prone cable on the market. It will force you to change out the cable. Which in turn will make you realize how limiting the stock cable was in the first place. I am not kidding when I say just about anything will be better than the packed in cable.

Bass is bigger out of the box by the way, another reason why you want to burn them in. Sound does get tighter and better balanced after a week of driver run. If you want less bass emphasis and more on the detail level throw on anything with silver for the cable, SPCs as well. You want that big bass and more forward mid range try a pure copper variety. Again low OI source is a must.

I would assume it will be same drivers. Never got word they are different. It is the dynamic being used that is different. Slightly larger graphene dynamic at 8mm. More importantly it is the utilization and tuning of the drivers. If you give the same set of drivers to lets say KZ or CCA and then the same to Geek. Your gonna get two completely different sounding earphones. I posted this on my review that I feel the drivers work better together on the GK80. Some folks should be getting their units soon. Looking forward to see what everyone thinks of the new GK80.
