Search online, I got mine for even less than that! One thing I can tell you is you'd be amazed the premium that folks put on having detachable cables around here.

I will have someone make a custom cable for TH900 MK2 .He is using Litz cables. If anyone has used Litz 7N copper balanced cables or the pure Litz silver ones, would you please share your experiences? Does it make Th900 sound brighter if pure silver Litz cables are used? Or is there any loss in micro details/resolution if I use 7n OCC copper litz cable to get warmer sound? What kind of balanced cables do you think fit best with th900 to get warm and resolving sound signature without any loss in the bass details? It seems that the connectors are the same with Sennheiser hd800. Is there any difference for the connectors that we should take into account ?
Hasn't anyone used shorter balanced cables with 4/5 ft. length to use on-the-go ?

I am having my Fostex TH-900 recabled (by Peterek) for two versions: 1) make it detachable and shorten the single ended cable to 4 feet and put a 1/8” jack on; 2) make a 5 foot balanced cable as well.

Expected to arrive this week. Stay tuned.

To be honest i love detachable cables, i try to avoid buying headphones that have no detachable cable, reason being i feel it increases the lifetime of the headphones. i dont have to worry about throwing them away if the cable no longer has proper connection. I understand i could mod them and fix it, however im not a very "moddy" type of person when it comes to audio equipment and im sure i'd do more harm than good. as for finding someone in my area, i'm very sure there arent any shops that could do this.

I can't believe i have avoided purchasing the TH900 since it has come out :O I suppose it was the bad impression i got when i listened to it with a cypher labs theorem powering them at a headphone shop a few years ago. They are absolutely stunning! I have my Z1Rs for a more isolated and relaxing listen, the HD800S when i want more of that ''reference'' sound, and the TH900s when i wanna rock out :D I'll always be a basshead at heart haha

cathee, what do you think of the fenestrated earpads? I was reading somewhere that the Dekoni earpads have a smaller ear opening than the stock pads :/ The stock pads fit me well, but i just bloooooody hate protein leather in the long term.

I have a love/hate relationship with the stock pads too. The Dekoni TH900 ones are about 1/4 smaller in "ear-hole" diameter. Definitely noticeably snugger, but is just the right size for me. Personally my favorite pairing with the TH900s is the Dekoni TH-X00 Hybrid pads.
