Hi I just unboxed my TH600's and gave them a listen. They aren't broken in yet but the bass is more understated than I expected. Also, the mids/highs are more spectacular than I expected. I'm hoping some break-in will tilt the frequency response downhill a bit. What kind of break-in time should I expect before I hear the tilt (if it happens at all).

The TH600's will be replacing my AHD2000's at work, which I use about 6 hours a day. I was thinking TH900 but they're just too fancy for the office. I'm hoping the TH600's will sound good out of my HiFiMan HM-801, it sure can make the AHD2000's sing. Someday I would like to upgrade to a DAC-1 but for now the 801 will have to do.

Funny story, I mentioned to one of my co-workers I didn't need my AHD2000's and he could have it for 100 bucks (it's in perfect condition). It almost started a fight, he thought I was trying to rip him off because "nobody pays that kind of money for headphones." Could be because everyone is hostile in Miami. I declined to tell him how much I paid for my Audeze LCD3's and FitEar 334's.

Hey, just sell me those AHD2000's for $100 then...

Some will never understand which is why I stopped telling once I reach $200 :) even when asked.

Used my first pair of Th600 for 2 weeks

Tempted to keep the NIB TH600 for movies/ videos/ portable-  "Games of Thrones" sure sounded great thru it and big brother for music

What amps are you all using with Th600? Got my eyes on Pico Power and Ak120

The AK120 on its own is pretty good, coupled with the PP is a step up though. Talking about the TH-900 mind you, but the TH-600 should yield very similar results.

at the moment IPC> Hp-p1> MKII > TH900

going to test Dx100> Th900 in a few. First time using with portable and liking it but th600 will fit the role better just from durability

If the TH600's don't warm up a bit I will be selling them instead of the AHD2000's. I will keep an open mind as the TH600's break in this weekend. The HiFiMan should help as it has a warm sound.

Got to admit the TH600's sounded a lot better out my Burson Soloist. Maybe an outboard amp is what it needs, I'll bet an SL would sound great.

I too liked the Soloist + TH600 combo. However, my Soloist is staying at home with my LCD2.3's.

The WA7 + TH600 combo is my work rig (being fed by an Audio-GD DI v3 -> CIAudio VDA-2 dac). To my ears, not quite as good as with the Soloist but I'm happy with the sound nonetheless.

I have considered doing the same thing, using the TH900 mainly for music and getting a TH600 for movies, videos or games I play on my computer.

Call me crazy but I am keeping both. Greed helped me make me think that the TH600 is good for work and the big bro for home.

considering the acute similarities between the two, I think one could be better off with just one or the other. That would be one expensive proposition to have both!

Good point,
One of the reasons I am considering getting the TH600 is so that I don't wear out the TH900 that quickly.
But as you stated, will be expensive if I do that.

Here is a review I saw, comparing the Th-600 directly to the D7k's : http://noblehifi.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/fostex-th-600-review.html

First time I have seen this site, but it seems to be a pretty decent review and the site is put together all right.

Anyways, I am placing my order for the TH-600's to do battle with my D7k's - The 'loser' will be bought by my friend.

Listened to TH600 for a while last weekend when I visited one Audio store. I've been looking for a headphones for a while but none suits my taste. I'm using UE11 right now, and the first time I listened to TH600 they sounded amazing! the bass impact, overall sq and sound signature for me suits my taste really well. I think it has same characteristic to UE11, just better in every aspects. Although the unit that I tried experienced a lot of sibilance but it seems its because the unit hasn't been burned yet. curious of how TH900 sounds like, but for now TH600 is in my wish list..

Fun sounding headphones, plenty of bass with amazing impact yet still controlled and tight , good clarity overall. Its amazing! planning to visit the store again in near time and listened more to them

I'm doing my version of this in about two weeks.  I get a pair of TH600's for a few days to audition and will run them up against my D7000's.  Should be interesting.
