Quick observation on the Focal Utopia on a hot day without A/C - while I see the cans as extremely comfortable, on a hot day like today I can't wear them for more than 10 minutes, the leather pads are just too warm. Very happy that I've kept my HD800 - the over ear pads are much more comfortable in such a situation.

Thanks for confirming, I was wondering about this. I'm in Europe too amid the heat wave right now. I've decided to wait on using my Utopia until the temps go back down.

i wasn't aware of the focal symphonie 40th. i note that it was "the ultimate collector's case!" "shrouded in a macassar ebony veneer" no less, which contained both the og utopia and the stellia, the arche dac/amp, the questyle qpm player and four "dedicated" cables: https://www.focal.com/en/symphonie-40th

leaving that "special and limited edition" package aside, there was one revision made to the 2016 og utopia headphone cable (the length was shortened from 13 feet to nine) according to your post. my utopia came with a nine foot cable. i was aware that focal revised the og utopia's cables when it updated the packaging in 2020 but a further cable revision was made in 2021 according to your post. so it appears that focal has made three revisions to the og utopia's cable over a five year period.

• 1 x 10ft (3m) cable (1 x symmetrical 4-point XLR connector and 2 Lemo® connectors)
  • Note: Revised during production to include black LEMO connectors
• 1 x Jack adapter, 1/8" (3.5mm) point socket – 1/4" (6.35mm) point plug.

Some people may not have noticed the 2022 XLR cable was quietly updated to include black LEMO connectors while all other cables have silver. That is one way you can distinguish the early production versions in the classifieds or after purchasing them from a retailer.

The cable that was included with my 2019 version is 3.05m long and has black LEMO connectors and terminates in a 6.3mm jack, it's a really bad rubber quality cable.

my stock cable also has a rubber sheath. it's longer and heavier than i'd like but i wouldn't describe it as bad quality; it's serviceable. ymmv.
