Focal Utopia General Discussion

I believe it's 5 years if you bought them at a brick and mortar store. 2 years if online only retailer. When I registered them at Focal, it states I have a 2 year warranty. I checked it and that hasn't changed.

Focal announced a 5 year warranty for all purchases from authorized dealers, B&M and online. B&M warranties were originally different lengths depending on vendor tier.

The post doesn't make any mention of if this change is still non-transferable. Does anyone have knowledge or experience of a driver failure situation where the headphone was purchased at an authorized dealer but failed in the ownership of a second-hand owner?

The irony of this is that I ordered a set of Focal Utopia speakers for my car late last week. Had this happened before that, I’m not sure I would have. Let’s hope they’re a bit more resilient than the headphones.
I had Focal Utopia speakers (165 W-RC) in my old car for about 3 years. Incredible resolving speakers that are incredibly though under hard condition if crossed over appropriately. You will be impressed for sure. They were my third ^pair of Focal after Polyglass (fantastic quality price ratio) and Polykevlar. The Utopia though are far ahead in terms of performance. Now I’m enjoying my Utopia headphone for the last two years and a half.

Today I joined the Utopia driver fail club :frowning2:

I noticed early on that there seemed to be quite a few being reported. Is that still the case, or was the issue resolved? They're only 10 months old, so it's a bit concerning.

5 year warranty even if you bought it second hand, though you do need the original invoice.

Were you using it any differently when the driver failed?

For those of you bringing the Utopia out of the house, what case do you use? The Focal one? If so, where is the best place (or the cheapest) to get it from?

I carry mine in a leather pouch. Probably not ideal and gives very little protection. But I rather do that than continuously disconnect the cable in a hard case, which is probably more harmful than a fleece lined leather bag.

I use a 'Slappa' hard case. It must be the most useful $20 I've ever spent on anything audio related (and by far).

I just use the Focal case. What's another $150 when you've got $2,500+ in the headphones?

Not really worried about connecting/disconnecting the cable either. Lemo should be rated for a ridiculous amount of insertions.

I see from your sig that you have gone from Eitr to DigiOne. Did you notice an improvement?

I am looking for a cable for my Utopia. I guess the first thing to decide on if silver vs copper. Any opinions?
