You can't go wrong,Is this still a good buy this 2022? My loca distro is offering an open box but brand new unit for $400 and 1 year warranty.
Especially at that price.

That's encouraging to hear! since I have the Clear OG pads and Elex pads on order. On a personal basis I ended up selling my Clear OG 'cause I liked the Elear (with Elex pads) as much.
This was my situation recently, and I'm quite satisfied with Elear. Mine came with Dekoni pads and I added Sendy Aiva pads. Both sound great. I haven't heard stock or any other Focal pads yet on them yet. That is less than most used Elear seen on the FS threads.
Yeah definitely a good dealIs this still a good buy this 2022? My loca distro is offering an open box but brand new unit for $400 and 1 year warranty.
The stock cables are a hassle but any better replacement will cost you in the $200s which is half what you paid for the phonesThanks. I bought what seemed to be the last unit on the local store. Currently burning them in now. Damn those stock cables. Definitely need to replace they're way too long for my use case.
I have a balanced xlr cable lying around with hd600 series pins. I will probably have that reterminated for focal 3.5 pins. Cable maker friend quoted me $15 for the service. The stock cables are a hassle but any better replacement will cost you in the $200s which is half what you paid for the phones
make em clip and never go that loud againI have read a few pages back about not getting over the volume threshold when playing these. How do I know the volumw level threshold for these cans?
Exactlymake em clip and never go that loud again
If you cannot make em clip while listening to some tunes you don't have to worry about it at all.
Hifiman cables will do, am using the Ananda's with good results and I don't recommend cutting and ironing custom plugs, remember the stock cables are high end and originally quoted for $220I thought the z1r cable will fit the focal sockets but turned out the 3.5 plug is a bit recessed on z1r because of the locking mechanism. So it's a bit short when plugged.
Good luck with that, try switching cables. The first gen of Elear had those issues and were covered by an extended warranty of 5 years. Replacement drivers come in couple and cost around $550SCHIITTTTT.....I think my left driver died!!!
Haven't used it for a couple of weeks, plugged it up to the Modius/Jot stack and nothing coming from the left speaker. Checked all cables and swapped setup's still nothing.
Gave it some deoxit and will come back to it....pray!
