If mine had any idea how much this habit, along with my two channel rig, I’d be 6 feet under.

For me the utopia had more than enough bass. would you guys say the clear has the same amount of warmth / bass resolve as utopia? if its even in the same ballpark i would lean towards considering the clear off that.

Hahahahaha don’t fool yourself. Even if they don’t know exactly they have a damn good idea. My spousal unit has asked me to sell my home theater to use the money to buy some rental properties. She came to me with a written budget proposal that nearly nailed what my home theater would sell for used. .....trust me they know lol :)

I don’t want to come across too resolute but no, I don’t think that could be said about the Clear. The Clear has more warmth bigger bass but not better resolved. If the Utopia has enough bass ....you should stay with it. Unless of course you want an alternet set of cans like a lot of us do. In which case the Clear is a great choice.

If my thinking is correct...the Hugo(2) in Black most likely sounds superior to the Silver...

Give a try with the CMA400i desktop amp, sounds great with clear and ... its black too!

MIcro iDSD BL showed this morning. The BL/Clear combination out of the box, sounds absolutely insane. I'm using the optical out from QP1R to feed the BL with all standard settings. Listening to Alice in Chains Unplugged (ripped from DVD) and it's like I'm sitting in the 3rd/4th row of the audience. Imaging is incredible, coming from a two-channel background.

Ordered my Nordost heimdall 2 yesterday for my focal clear pro, also ordered a vertere usb for my laptop to my Chord Hugo 2,I had a quick listen before coming into work on nights and they sound really really good, much better to my ears than the utopia I had, that coiled cable is a total nightmare though,it doesn't easily stretch and it's pulling my Hugo 2 moving it about hence the cable purchase,I had the Nordost heimdall 2 cable with the focal utopia headphones, fantastic cable well worth the money

I agree the Utopia is a clear step up from the Clear, both more resolve an a more linear low end. I still can't get past that slight hump both the Elear and Clear have and frankly I still think the Utopia is the only Focal I really love without any reservations! That said, the Clear is a HUGE step in the right direction for them and their $1000 offerings and I'm quite impressed with it despite wishing it was a little less bassy.

Oh and my review of it is up! I was so busy prepping for meets I forgot to post it >.>

Nice review. A lot of my thoughts on them, I think were well reflected (... and admittedly better articulated, lol).
I think the strong dynamics is what often make the Clear appear more resolving than it is at first, there is a bit of smoke and mirrors going on.
I very much agree that it is surpassed by the 800 in this ascpect....and obviously also the Utopia.

I've had this headphone for well over a month now, and i like it for it's great balance, dynamics/speed and inherent versatility.
For me, the listening experience is unique and enjoyable enough to hold on to them for now.
