OK now this is fun.

I found the video where Peter Wong (PW) himself explaining the tech behind the Orpheus. It is in Cantonese.

https://video.weibo.com/show?fid=1034:4566593502380041

Basically, the Orpheus cable is a 8-wired braided copper cable with three layers of insulators surrounding the copper.

Peter believes that the design principle he is following is to “increase the surface area of the copper cable and let more electrons travel in the surface.”

I am not really reading the logic behind this. I am not majoring in physics or EE, but this does not seem right to me...

Anyhow, maybe not worth bothering myself or anyone with these specious statements.

Edit: Ah OK I get it. So the logic is because electrons will exclude each other, he intends to use layers of insulators to reduce such effect among the copper wires so that more electrons can travel on the surface of each wire.

So, people are basically paying $4000 for three layers of insulator on the cable.
Pw audio basically is doing what Brise Audio been doing for years but charge stupid cost for a cable

I’m very particular about build quality with cables I’m considering, how would you rate your friend’s build artistry?
Tbh, as someone who’s super picky about cables, there’s practically 0 difference in build quality between what doctorjuggles makes and the industry leaders, save for some proprietary hardware that some of them have

Lets just make it simple: PW is reselling Cardas Copper at ludicrous prices, because they're one of the few places that can afford the minimum order amount to begin with.
This lol - since we can afford industries of scale, we’re going to charge 4-6x what DIY-ers charge for the exact same wire

It surely doesn’t beat paying over $7000 for a piece of carved meteorite...

I was just at their website looking for a 7-pin cable for the Jolene. They're one of the few brands that explicitly say they offer them + the bass pod. I scrolled past this one real' quick. :D

That is one of the best looking cables I've seen, period. Not sure how he gets that black core look in the main cable, but it's simply gorgeous. Hats off @doctorjuggles!

That said, this looks even thicker than the PW 1960s 4w (which is great, I LOVE thick cables) but I do recall you saying the 1960s 4w was too thick to be portable. I use 8w Anniversary cables and consider them very portable, so differ with you there.

Massively appreciate all the feedback and love in here guys - I just wanted to acknowledge it while trying to stay within the forum guidelines for people who have been allocated "Member of the Trade" status - I hope this is okay, but I didn't want to let all this chat go by without saying thank you very much for the positive feedback.:hugging::beerchug:

There’s literally a black core in the middle of it! It’s just for esthetics though, it’s not connected to anything AFAIK

I love buying thick and big cables, and as long as microphonics isn’t an issue, I can live with it honestly. I’m also a huge sucker for design and aesthetics, where @doctorjuggles provides and then some <3

This is an awesome way to make thick cables even thicker. And look better in the process. Love it!

This is hands-down the nicest looking cable I've ever seen.

I saw pictures when @doctorjuggles finished working on this about a week ago, and my jaw is now nearly completely back to its original position.

I believe it is 600GBP with the components in the photo and around 500 or so with the standard ones :)

@Vitaly2017 this one is pure silver
