It is...but the sound-sig refinements in the SE allegedly made their way into the 2020 in some way. Fortunately for me once coronapocalypse is over I should be able to head over to Headphone Bar and a/b my SE with the 2020.
You are correct, from the interview, it appears they attempted to maintain the sound refinements from the SE in the 2020. I will be able to compare only to the OG. Some feel those refinements were minimal and not worth the upgrade and others feel more strongly. That said, touch on the build, comfort, initial sound(hesitantly) and compare photos. If I say this is what I am hearing compared to the OG, you lucky SE owners can say, yep that sounds like my beloved SE.

Having both waiting on me at home, the EVE20 and Solaris 2020, it will be a tough call which to open first. Any idea which way I am leaning, assuming all deliveries go as planned an in this time that is a big if?

That is indeed a possibility, but fortunately I can defer to the bliss of ignorance there and enjoy the fact that the sound profile of the SE works perfectly for me and I'm not feeling the itch to try anything new right now.

The smaller shell will most definitely be a boon for many, but fortunately for me the fit of the old shell is perfect for me and I, uh, don't know if I'd be comfortable being penetrated any deeper. I tried Ety's once and the ear-rape was too much for me.

Indeed, the size is smaller, but I don't know if the insertion will be significantly deeper. But for sure, looks like it will fit more comfortably in concha cavum area of the ear.

I'm in the somewhat enviable position of not minding the fit and preferring the look of the SE over the other two. I'm VERY interested in hearing sound comparisons between the SE and 2020.

Well hello, we go back to our ZMF obsession days. I see your Anole VX is up for sale. That will sell quick. I found myself with a lot of "reference" like IEMs. I needed to have some contrast. So Legend X and Khan are my go to contrasts to my other IEMs. I thoroughly enjoy both. Legend X is surprisingly mature with thicker notes. Also the timbre of the vocals are excellent with LX. Khan on the other hand is a wonderful troublemaker. Thinner notes but amazing detail and amazing fun on top of that. I was just listening to the song "Free to Go" by Neal Casal. The LX and Khan both sound great with that song but each IEM focuses so differently on different instruments in the song. I get to discover the song in different ways.

I do not have the Tia Trio anymore. I had fit issues with it which happens often with me with certain IEMs. Also happened when I tried to go the custom route.

Yeah we do go way back, huh? Everything I hear about the LX is making me more and more excited for it! Thank you for your quick impressions of it. I'm curious how it will fit into my gear. I'm thinking that it might replace my Trio. Bigger bass, bigger soundstage, and better isolation. I did decide to sell the VX. I enjoyed my time with it, but lately I seem to have to force myself to listen to it. The lcd-i4 has become a staple though. It's not going anywhere. My next goal is to get something that goes well with acoustic music.

Sorry to hear about the trio! It's one of the most comfortable IEMs for me. I haven't tried the custom route yet, but I'm curious about the ve8.

I do have only the original, and heard SE very briefly at the recent CanJam NYC; spent more time chatting with Caleb than listening lol!!! From that brief auditioning, to my ears SE had a little brighter and more forward upper mids/vocals, though not by whole lot. So, curious if '20 version will be similar. Maybe I will get a chance to find out, sooner than later. Though, I honestly have no idea which one is incoming since Ken wasn't specific.

Solaris is the new Andro!

A bigger ear onion to a smaller ear onion. Waiting for a bigger shell Andro now.
