I got mine yesterday, wow it's so good compare to my SE535, lower price, better sound to my ear!

So, if I am thinking of buying these, coming from the SE 215ltd, will be an even bigger upgrade?

The FLC's are so good that sometimes I don't know if I like my IE800 more or the FLC

They don't sound alike but are incredibly detailed, fast, and can be adjusted slightly in sound signature.

I am a big fan of the hybrids. I like great bass and I like detailed and fast speed with razor precision on sound. The speed and precision is also very natural sounding and doesn't bother my ears.

When I saw joker rating these in at a 9.4 and my IE800's 9.3, I can somewhat see why. I would still rate the ie800's a little better due to me preferring the sound signature but you really will find it hard to go wrong with the flc.

hello there! i upgraded to the flc8s from the se215 too. Can you specify what you mean by " an even bigger upgrade"? If you're comparing the se535 to the flc8s, i originally was going to upgrade to a se535, but some guy on the se535 thread told me that the se535 was overpriced even at $300, and told me to check out newer iems like the flc 8s. And yes, most would consider the flc8s a bigger upgrade than the se535 sonically.

I was just meaning that if the other poster thought the Flc's were an upgrade from the se535's, they should REALLY be an upgrade for me coming from the 215's.

After reading more about them, I really can't wait to acquire a pair!

Just chatted with Forrest a bit this weekend. Sounds like there's some cool stuff coming down the pipeline at FLC. I'll tell you more as I get more info...

great to hear it....hopefully sooner rather than later.

I did...oops...
note to self: don't copy/paste when late and a bit groggy
wink.gif

mia apologia.

how does it relate? many of us on here have both iems and cans...and so it's related
more to cans...but still about making the sound from our iems/cans outside of our heads and more 'real'  and 3D, 'speaker like'

hope you enjoyed it.

So, I'm mildly annoyed by the FLC 8S at the moment. I really hate the stock cable. It's springy, hard, and retains memory. From everything I've seen online, the UE connectors seem to be the right fit. I tried a standard 2-pin and it seemed too tight so I didn't force it. I purchased UE cable style 2-pin cable direct from UE to replace the stock 8S cable.

When it arrived, I compared the two cables and noticed the pins on the stock cable are more exposed, allowing for a deeper connection. I didn't think this would be a big deal but it was haha. I connected the UE cable and there was a dramatic difference. The bass dropped of by like 60% and everything just sounded distant, small, and hollow. I've never heard such a drastic change from one cable to another. That being said, I fairly certain it's because the contacts aren't fully seated.

Why would FLC go with a less popular 2-pin configuration (UE) but not follow that standard exactly??? Has anyone else experienced this? Does the standard 2-pin connection actually work, should force the connection? I can't tolerate the stock cable haha. Any recommendations for a proven replacement? Thanks in advance!

On another note, in very very brief comparison, the 8S holds up pretty well against the Andromeda! The Andro wins in almost all categories but the 8S does well enough that if the Andro disappeared tomorrow, I wouldn't miss it for too long. First impressions though. This could change over time. I just need to figure out this cable situation or else I might sell them.

Maybe the polarity is not correct? Have you tried plugging them reversed? The quality of the stock cable and how flc8s has its own standards is definitely worth noting for improvement in future releases.
