Final Thoughts: Sony MDR-XB1000 vs. MDR-XB700 *** Pictures ***

Asked this yesterday but no one answered? When are the xb 1000's going to be available in the U.S. amd does anyone know what the price is going to be?

I suspect it will hit the street of U.S. in April or May. The MDR-Z1000 is just now showing up at U.S. dealers. Those have been in Japan for almost 4 months.

I thought you hated the sound of the XB1000s? Have they changed with burn in or something?

I am comparing between the XB700 & XB1000. Yes, I like the XB1000 more, but only between the two not between what I own. The XB1000 is a good headphones for electronic music. Playing Paul Van Dyk with your eyes closed on the XB1000 gives you a feeling like you're "rolling" at a 10,000+ rave and everyone around you are feeling the music too.

The D7000 doesn't do that.

....and this is the purpose of an XB can

Cool. What do you think the price will be? Following the prices of the other xb's I'm going to guess MSRP to be close to $200 and a street price of $150ish, at least that's what I'm hoping.

Right now on Amazon Japan they are going for 18,656 Yen which is about $226 USD.

29,500 Y/$358 USD list on Sony Japan.

I know I paid too much, but the joy of enjoying them for months before most in the U.S. is worth the price to pay.

Here is one of Sony's ad campaigns in Japan.

They definitely have no qualms about who their target audience is.

What do you mean with "Hi-Fi"?  You find D7000's bass artificial and XB1000's more true to life?
(Do you mean "Hi-Fi-ish"? or the old, original meaning of Hi-Fi, "High fidelity, which has a positive meaning...)

yes, Hi-Fidelity Buck.

XB1000 is available in Hong Kong a week or two ago at $1980HKD (Sony official price), which is like...$253USD. Im desperate for that price to drop...

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

In for one once these hit the US with a lower price. I'll throw $150 or so bones for them. Can't wait.

The XB500 does 70% of this correct, I just need more clarity and soundstage which the XB1000 seems to do from this thread.

@AZN

The XB500 are the "diamond in the rough" when it comes to bass and not needing any sort of AMPAGE. However, I think you may want to look into combining the XB1000 with some sort of power if you want the full effect.

Just my guess, I may be wrong though. Still waiting for them to be released here in the states...
