Final Audio Design Impressions and Discussion Thread

Some people say so. Similar high-quality driver in a ridiculously affordable package.
E500 is a far cry from the E5000 and E4000. Also the driver design has differences alongside the massive difference in acoustic chamber design (E5000 has a rear bass reflex chamber of sorts).
I’d like to try a final iem but I can’t chose one🤷🏼‍♂️
I’d like something similar to my Pandora Hope VI, maybe E4000/5000?
I wrote this article a few weeks back where I compared all E series IEMs. I think it might be helpful for you:

I have owned all of them over the years and now I only have the E500, E3000, and E5000 in collection. E series IEMs won't give you treble details as they're mostly focused on bass and mids. A3000 might be closest to the Sonorous VI sound.

Nice I was just comparing A3000 with E4000 fr 😉

I'd try to contact Vesper Audio. I have a pair of Piano Fortes modded by them with 2-pin sockets, so they must know how to open it.

Speaking of which, this is probably a very rare combo: 2-pin modded Piano Fortes + Fostex TM2 true wireless earhooks.

I wound up figuring out how to separate the housing and discovered that the one driver was not functioning due to a break in the attached cable. I replaced the attached cable with mmcx connectors and I am now running a 4.4 mm balanced cable. I used Blu Tack to seal the area around where the mmcx connector enters the housing and used vinyl wrap to help secure the housing together rather than use adhesive so it will be easier to open the housing if future repairs are needed. I also replaced the mesh inside the nozzle.

A3000 with proper amping sounded better than A4000 to my ears. The A4000 given more power has more clearer details, but also brighter and sharper in the attack\edges. The A3000 has a more rounded, and balanced sound, with good quality (not necessarily amount-wise) bass. In terms of attack, speed and decay. It's one of the best value in final lineup IMO

Better than E5000/4000?

I recently auditioned the E4000/E5000 and bought myself an E500 to test it out.

The E500 doesn't come close to E4000/E5000. The separation and timbre on the E4000/E5000 are on a different level.

It's superb for the price though, and I got it for around 19USD.

E500 is a far cry from the E5000 and E4000. Also the driver design has differences alongside the massive difference in acoustic chamber design (E5000 has a rear bass reflex chamber of sorts).

Your E series review is pretty spot-on as to what I experienced.

You are right about the E500 being the best soundstage for binaural tracks and suffering on imaging and soundstage in non-binaural tracks.

And I also agree that E5000 is the best in the E-Series lineup.

So with the opening of the new final boutique, there is a new prototype of D6000 to try on.

Cant want for this to release!

If you ever need an inconspicuous pair for travel or wear at home with high sound quality, and incredible mids @drftr I'd highly recommend the A3000. It's super lightweight too

Those cables look similar to the ones on E5000

yeah, that’s a C106 which comes with several of final’s iems including the E5000. The only difference is the iem connectors are different since the sample is a prototype planar design.

I want to hear the D6000 as well, like a mini D8000 in silver.

"Yeah the Final A8000 sound like the KZ ZSN Pro X" - said no one ever, at least those with functional eardrums.

That's the problem with some folks who overlay 2 graphs (without even hearing the IEMs before) and saying the graphs look similar = they should sound the same.

Graphs maybe at best tell half the story. Some stuff like timbral accuracy, imaging, instrument separation, even microdetails/transients/dynamics/soundstage, can't be gleaned fully from a standard FR.

The latest craze on social media is that the Tripowin Olina graphs similarly to the Tanchjim Oxygen, but is much cheaper, and the former are being hyped quite a lot. I am pretty doubtful they will sound the same TBH.

I always find it funny that IEM engineers and even acoustic researchers are full of doubt about sound quality of IEM / headphones whilst random Internet people with some graphs are super confident (and condescending) that they know everything there is to know.

Personally, I did A/B tests Fiio FD3 and FD5 which graph nearly identically. One would be lying to say they sound identical, even though they have the same frequency distribution.
