Happened to mine after a couple of months. Sent them back under warranty and apparently the mesh was clogged though it was still bright white so I thought otherwise. Advice from the authorised dealer:

Sounds scary but if that's what they advise it's what I'll do next time.

Yep, that was the issue. Mesh bright white could swear it's clean. Dipped in some hydrogen peroxide and now it works.

Does anyone else find it a bit strange that in all three cases it's the right ear that went quiet? Two of us have bright white earwax too!

Ok so hydrogen peroxide didn't work but boiling water did. Afterwards I poked the mesh around to see if I could remove it and was disappointed to see that it was just a thin piece of paper-like material only held on by glue. If it happens again I'll see if I can replace it with foam or something more robust.

If you replace it, you risk altering the sound signature :) best to keep it stock

The A8000 definitely benefits from extended burn-in. I’ve been running my review loaner continuously 24/7 since I received it, and the initial high frequency grain continues to diminish leaving a highly liquid presentation of the trebles, stunning! I’m using my AK240SS as my source.

does anyone know where to get the safe fit rings for f7200?

You can always call your dealer to see if they can order them for you. The other option is to put up a classified to see if any F Series owners don’t use the safe fit rings, I never did when I owned the F7200. Good luck.

John that was a great review, thanks. My A8000 just got shipped today, I have great hope for the A8000. I do have one question which is do you notice significantly sound changes over the burn in period? 300 hours seem like a lot of burn in. I don’t remember my Utopia needing that much burn in. Also how does low mid sound, thin? with body? recessed? forward? I listen to vocal a lot and hate recessed mid. You also compare the A8000 to Fi-BA-SS, and you know the Fi-BA-SS is a BA driver, does the A8000 sound like a DD at all? I have single DD iems in JVC FW10K, and Lab2, does A8000 sound anything near them?

Thank you for the compliment. I wasn’t planning on running it that long, rather, 150 hours based on what final suggested on the B series, but the A8000 kept sounding better to my ears with more time, especially in the mids and highs. Out of the box, the A8000 sounds a bit shouty with a granular texture, and as I put more time on it, it became more liquid sounding. The extra hours were just in case it would improve further, but my guess is 175-200 will get you there.

To my ears, the lower mids are not thin at all. I’d say pretty neutral in this respect with some body (not affected by any bass bleed) and a bit forward. Yes, I understand the FI-BA-SS is a single BA design, so I was initially surprised by a similar quality—from memory when I owned it—in the highs being the A8000 is a DD design. I attribute any similarity to the speed and control of the beryllium driver. Regarding comparison to the JVC and the Lab 2 (lucky you!), I’ve not heard either.

Congrats on your soon to arrive A8000, and please comment with your thoughts ... the A8000 for me has been an eye, and ear, opener. :beerchug:

Hi, I been interested in Final Audio iems ( mostly due to the Final type E tips) and can anyone tell me if they are comparable (better or worse) than some of my other Chi-fi iems?

Looking at the Final E500, E1000, E2000 and the E3000.

Thanks in advance.

Just skip a few and jump to the A8000 And be done with your search.
