Pretty sure @Kiats owns more FAD than that too.

How does the Piano forte viii differ from the x?
How does the Piano forte viii differ from the x?
The X is the wild child of PF line. The VIII and IX are similar with the VIII a bit more lively but not as clean. I prefer the IX but it is a matter of taste. I would certainly not own both. They are too similar.
I would however add the X to my portfolio in addition to the IX (if funds and priorities allowed). It is that different. The mids are as thick as maple syrup. With the right music, it is stunning. (And with the wrong music, it is really wrong. John Mayer Trio Live through the PF X is one of the weirdest things that I have ever heard. And the harmonies of sweet Peter Paul and Mary screeched a gash through my brain. But piano, acoustic guitar, simple vocals... Wow!)
Agree! Save for the not owning both VIII and IX bit.![]()
Kiats, good on you. There is nothing wrong with being a FAD extremist.![]()
Well...just became a proud owner of the Lab1other than what has already been written about it, first impressions are that it is simply effortless. Pairing with the Tera brings a sound that is stunningly natural and unfatiguing. You would suddenly forget about picking out details as you would in critical listening because the music just grabs a hold of you, and I feel that's a good thing
