Final Audio Design Impressions and Discussion Thread

Yeah A8000 now high on my list. I've had fun exploring hybrids and tribrids lately but I'm being pulled back to the humble single DD again!

I think you will enjoy A4000 given our shared taste in electronic music. Excellent detail, nice sub bass, crisp treble and an overall very musical tuning. In fact, I'd say a no-brainer for you!

I had the E5000 in late 2020 but didn't have a decent source at the time, I'm tempted to buy again as I'd say the M9 would drive them well.

Final A8000 is one of the best IEMs I have ever had the pleasure to unbox and listen, thanks to my local hifi store. I think you will love A8000. Much more conventional tuning, yet everything is tact sharp and resolving. A4000 is no where near or similar to A8000, IMHO.

E5000 and E3000 are the only IEMs in my collection that show audible improvement moving from Apple dongle to a powerful portable amp. The negative thing, IMHO, is that they encourage loud listening due to the way they are designed (very low sensitivity to encourage you to turn up the volume to tease out details across the spectrum).

I own the a8000 and it's become one of my favourite iems. For classical music it's shared number one with the kse1200

I really enjoy my B2's. I've owned a few IEMs, and the B2 is easily the most comfortable IEM I've ever worn. I've worn it while walking and just lying down, and it never slips out of my ears.

The bass is present, but never bleeds into the mids. It even can go surprisingly deep at times. The mids are full and forward without ever being fatiguing. The low-treble is forward like the mids, but isn't grating or harsh. The upper-treble, while definitely subdued, is still present. The overall presentation is smoothed over and quite intimate. These are not the IEMs to go for detail. They are just a nice, easy-to-listen experience (for me anyway ).

Yeah I'm seeing it divides opinion, I think a lot of that will be down to music preferences and source - I suspect a brighter source and a genre like rock or metal could prove challenging. Electronic music for the most part is more forgiving. I haven't tried genres like jazz or more vocal centric yet but plan to over the weekend.

The Han Sound Nyx is a great cable and has come to the rescue for me now a few times!

Congrats on your great experience, I agree they are an excellent set. I did NOT get on with the stock tips and could not enjoy A4000 at all until I tried the Azla Sedna Earfit tips with them. This was the ‘magic button’ fit/seal-wise, suddenly the sub-bass came alive. There is no lack of bass slam on this set. If anyone is not ‘getting it’ I encourage them to tip roll till they get that perfect fit. The is set is really worth every penny.

Is there by chance anyone who owns both E4000 and E5000?

I've been using E4000 and I'm thinking about upgrading to E5000 but I'm not sure if I will like its sound signature. And there is no option for me to demo it in my crappy country.

So I EQ-ed my E4000 to E5000 signature and concluded that I don't like. Now I just need someone with both to use the same EQ on their E4000, A/B it against their E5000 and confirm that E4000 EQ-ed to E5000 indeed sounds like E5000.

E4000 and E5000 use the same driver and have the same shell shape so I guess it should be pretty accurate? If it is accurate, I would dodge a bullet and save a lot of money.

Anyway there are the EQ settings:

I don't use EQ, but in stock form, the E5000 has a thicker note weight, is bassier and darker in the treble than the E4000. Both sets are difficult to drive, but the E5000 is much more difficult to drive. EQ won't fix the drivability, the E5000 has a very low sensitivity and is one of the hardest IEMs to drive. Most dongles/smartphones can't juice it well, and without proper amplification, the E5000 can sound very bloated and boomy in the bass.

Second this. E5000 is the only IEM that I can hear a clear difference between Apple dongle and more powerful sources. Moreover, this E5000 encourages you to increase volume for details to pop out, making it even harder to drive.

If you remove the earwax filter on the front side, and put some piece of open cell foam or cotton there, the E5000 will get less shouty leading edge impact, and less bass but quicker and tighter texture.

I drive it from my iPad 6, and I enjoy it immensly.

When I equed my E4000 to E5000 signature, vocal sounded more veiled.

The E5000 is a favorite of mine. I run it balanced, formerly from a BTR5 and recently from a Go Blu. From the Go Blu 4.4mm I have the volume at about 60% which is a lot, about twice the volume of my more sensitive earphones. I don't find it boomy, it is smooth and even with deep bass that is never overwhelming. I suppose that someone who prefers a thinner, reedy sound with very light bass might find it a bit much but I doubt they would be drawn to it. It doesn't sound good from my phone's headphone socket, it seems sluggish and boomy and has low volume. The impression I get is that low power makes it sound uneven, it may seem loud enough but doesn't sound right. I use a DAC/amp with all my IEMs but the E5000 is the only one that I think needs the extra power. It has been a while since I used the E4000 but from memory it sounded less warm and bass was not as deep. I imagine that with some tracks they sound quite similar.

Had a chance encounter with the upcoming Final ZE8000, their flagship TWS. Pricing and tuning isn't "final" yet, but they told me it would be under $400 or so. Will also come with a dedicated app with EQ support and perhaps some DSP.

The ZE3000 are very impressive TWS, so I am looking forward to this apparent flagship.

It looks like UE Fits. Hard to believe that Final uses the 8000 moniker already. Let’s see what they can do.

In love with my A8000 still. In a way, it has removed the pleasure-seeking behaviour I had in this hobby haha. I don’t think about any headphone or earphone purchases anymore.
Have you (or anyone on this thread) conducted an A/B comparison between A4000 and A8000? I have A4000 and find it’s soundstage technical performance (in particular) mind blowing in terms of cost to performance ratio. How does the 8000 cp to the 4000?
