I had a wonderful time visiting Tokyo and I stopped by Akihabara to check out e-earphone (audio shop) and their 4th and 5th floors were dedicated to audiophile IEMs and headphones. Plus the arcades were awesome.

I spent a good time comparing IEMs from Noble, Senn, A46, etc for the first time and I have to say theres some quality IEMs out there. Cant touch the likes of open backs especially like the D8KP.

I had a chance to listen to the Maze Elites and the new Yamaha 5000 SE via a Cayin IH6 stack.
The headphones sound really good.

The Yamaha are featherweights. Love that comfort and the sound was pretty nice to my ears. Very neutral and detailed.
I don't think they sound anything like the D8KP as some were saying they would one up them. I can see why they might sterile to some but depending on your preferred genres can work out really well. If youre into a lot of pop, metal, or sub-bass heavy stuff then you might pass em on.

I was using the Cayin stack with a single ended cable and could tell they would benefit from a balanced connection. Besides that Im not sure if I'm just biased or just more familiar with my rig... but I think my set up sounds much better and would provide a better experience.

The Maze were very smooth yet not as detailed. The bass thump was quite nice but not as textured as the Finals. The build is of course excellent and you can wear them all day. They more of a really high end sounding fun headphone to my ears as technicalities aren't up there with the D8KP or my Hifiman HE1000 SE. Bit I can understand why people really like them.

My point is the D8KP sound the best out of those three IMO. Also, Akihabara was fantastic.

I heard the same YH-5000SE & Cayin setup at e-earphones a few weeks back. It sounded pretty good with decent detail but nothing extraordinary and I didn't find the YH5000se engaging for the 10mins I had auditioned it. Comfort was excellent and very light weight - much better fit than the D8k pro! Out of that Cayin stack, it sounded more like a $1k pair of headphones rather than $5k.

I think the Cayin stack is a bit low end for those headphones…..just saying. At least with the YH5000SE. It really, really likes current. Even the amp Yamaha designed to go with it isn’t the best pairing. Get a very good tube amp on it and it is a different headphone. The Meze isn’t nearly as picky and plays well with most sources.

Recently got a pair of ZMF VC's and Rad 0's....along with my 2 yr old D8000 Pros..
Rad 0's have a slightly wider soundstage.
ZMF's are more veiled and warm.
D8000 Pros are still my best ever headphone.
Clear, crisp, accurate, tonality etc..
Wonderful even with all the "new" stuff coming out. These still are up there in the TOTL category
IMO.

Yes I keep trying all the new stuff. Still haven’t found anything that beats the finals with my DAPs.

Finally a cable that matches the D8000pro LE aesthetic.

Now I need a stand, I've been thinking of ROOMs audio Line stands

I made it myself. Noone is making cables with proper D8000 plugs and that's really what I wanted. I don't believe in cables so I can't speak about that matter.

I will be making another one with silver accents for the D8000pro before selling it. Waiting for some cable sleeve and plugs to tryout some variations.

Beautiful aesthetics. :)

Now if I may say, Final Audio’s very own custom stand for the D-8000 is excellent. Great quality with a sturdy build.

I love how the D8000 thread is just peace and people enjoying their headphones. Most of us have sold most of our gear to just enjoy music.

Meanwhile Susvara, 1266 is just people fighting over their next cable or Amp "upgrade" 🤣

D8000 is relatively easy to drive and a good all rounder. So it sounds good regardless of the rest of the equipment or musical preferences. I am a happy camper for almost 2 years. I have not bought anything new. :)

and with both the effort is worth it because properly matched these 2 HP's are simply magnificent...abyss is far easier to match...the susvara is the tougher one but again properly matched it is sublime
