Any link for the pads?

I enjoy pad swapping on the D8k. I liked how the Pro pads changed the sound signature (subtle but noticeable). I then switched back to stock pads and now probably swapping to Pro pads again 😁. There's a post from me somewhere here about the sound changes.

The D8k (and the Pros) are exceptional HPs. I agree with @betula, their sound doesn't change as much with amp pairing comparing to the Pros. One of the reasons why I kept the D8k and sold the Pros.
I bought the pro pads from Audio46 New York as they were unavailable in whole Europe.

Same here. I was actually asking about those leather pads 😁.
I am really curious to hear how those leather pads change the sound. They look cool for sure, but it is all about sound at the end of the day.

Indeed. The D8k bass always puts a smile on my face. I was testing some bass tracks today and on some the D8k sub bass reached deeper than the Abyss 1266 TC.

At the moment D8k and Diana Phi with DMS pads are the perfect combo for me. I traded the Meze Elite and will probably be trading/selling the 1266 TC at some point. Supremely technical and fast HP. Also unbelievable stage. This said I need some warmth that I am not getting with it.

Magic synergy......Final Audio D8000 Pros + Soekris 2541 + iFi iCAN Signature amp.

This combination has never let me down.

About the best I have ever experienced.

Its esquisite!

D8000 Pro and regular are super solid, don't need much to get going and really enjoy various iCANs. That setup of yours has to sound awesome :)

D8k are way worse headphones than 1266 but if you want warmth that can be way to go.

Worse is all relative.

Nothing I heard beats the 1266 impact, stage and imaging. That much is for sure.

But at the end of the day it's about the music and tastes too, not just technical performance. The D8k is like a classic car and the 1266 TC is the new fancy ferrari. Both have their appeal and I only (mostly) have good things to say about both.

My actual favourite all-rounder right now is the Diana Phi. Gives a bit of both.

Totally relative, just as you said.

The 1266 has very poor midrange compared to most of the competition. (From what I read)

Poor midrange? Better than Meze for sure :dt880smile:
That's not the General consens, but if you prefer the midrange of the 1266 That's totally fine.

It is a subjective Hobby for sure

All these HPs are amazing in their own right. They all do a lot right, and some less right. After that source synergy and preferences are paramount. Not to mention differences in hearing as we all hear stuff differently.

Try an app like Neutralizer if you want to check your sensitivity to different frequencies hehehe. Very helpful information.

Mids are very important and IMO are worse with the 1266's.

Meze Empys yes, Elites No.

Subjective for sure.

D8K's blow me away everyday...others do not....think I have for me :the" magic synergy setup...

Absolutely no desire to look for new cans now since the D8Ks arrived.

YMMV....
