Just to make sure: what about the playlists support? M3u at least?
Its really important. Creating, editing reading playlists.

of course it is a very important feature in X7.

Awesome, just had to make sure the standard m3u files will be supported, typically plenty of people has already playlists in "Playlists" rockbox directory, when they are files system based its very easy to import them and also to export them top computer and edit.

Ibasso has horrible playlists support, you cant even save them or export anywhere. More file system everything is based - its better (Im software developer myself).

I was wondering about one more thing.... Is it possible to have player application open source?? I could help in future to develop it if there is such a need... or anyone else...

The drivers code could be closed source but player itself... would be just really awesome to have it open to community.

Any thoughts on that?

Even our X1/X3/X5/X3II supports M3U and playlist too. and we will add more special features in X7 in the future ( some Pro features )

JamesFiiO given that the X7 is Android based I'm curious if there is the possibility to do custom themes for it. I've done a few for the X5 and it would be awesome if possible on the X7. I'm doubtful but I might as well ask.

almost all androids are fully customizable, but they are very hard to encode, at least some of them...

a better question, if we are talking android is what launchers is x7 able to use?

Customizable like this?

The custom theme tool for the X5 (and X3, X1) is very easy to use and can really change the feel of the device. Mind you the FW on the current devices is all proprietary from FiiO and, with all due respect, super simple. I've never used Android so I really don't know.

basically, android is not that customizable in the same way... you can write a separate laucher, but it takes a lot of time, or you can use a launcher and do a theme for it.

on the other hand, android is the most customizable platform out there, so if you want to do something and have patience, everything and anything can actually be done in android. but android is almost the most complicated, and needs code writting some times for doing more complex themes... it depends on the launcher.

it is a very long story, unless very very very heavily modified, android accepts most launchers, you can experiment themes by buying the cheapest android phone you can fiind and doing themes for a particular launcher..

a launcher is an application envoirment. basically, like how x5's firmware that permits editing is. If you stay in that launcher, what you can do is the same, like x5, you can do a lot, but until a certain degree. if you re-write launcher, you can do much much more, but it takes time, and linux and android knowledge. if x7 will accept different launchers. basically, in android themes are simple, after you get to a point where you write for the launcher that is in the android at the moment.

anyways, i know your themes for x5, and they look great! With a few work, and some resizing[maybe] you should be able to port them to x7.

keep up the great work!

So I'll wait for James's reply as he'll be able to say with more accuracy about launchers and all.

Not looking to port them over as they wouldn't really work in the screen format. Just curious is all. Not trying to spam the threads with theme pics.

Thanks! :)

I've done some light theming in Android. It's basically using paint and compiling, decompiling...newer Android is much different, they don't use jpegs...but I'm talking about the icons not wallpaper. But many different these for launchers poster above is correct.

But only James/Joe can say what they are using at this point.

I don't wanna cause offense, however....at this point I just want to see a capable, usable and well functioning DAP at a price point I can afford. So the continued ask and scope creep will not allow this thing to get built and kept at the indicated M.S.R.P of  $699U.S. Yeah I get it, it's nice to have all these features, but really whose going to use them all?

Let's get this DAP built already, I don't want to continue talking about this on electronic paper neither do I want to be sitting here in 2016 still waiting, watching and reading folks asking for this, that and the other and still being no closer to a manufacturing release or final build. After all we are not asking for and A&K 240 type premium product and experience and if you are then that's what you should be buying.
