^ I mean an easy UI mode. Less buttons, easier to use, maybe even bigger buttons. Of course, IMHO, this wouldn't be high on Fiio priority list but it would be a good addition.

A lot of mobile phones makers are implementing this UI mode.

how about X1? it's cheaper and can hold you over till X7 comes out.

I don't know about x1...
I'm not a big fan of the TI chips, plus I expect it to be also working as a usb dac.
if x3k will make it to the market in 2 weeks, I can do the wait

Should be the final design ( to the full UI ) of the music play App in our X7

Battery Indicator!!!!

Hey James, This is a beautiful display - you even included the heavily requested fast scrolling ABC bar to the right and what appears to be a keyboard search function that I hope has a real-time pop up search suggestions list that populates with each letter press like the AK family.

However, I mostly listen with the display off to conserve energy while I shuffle playlist folders and forward/repeat/pause through hardware buttons on the side. Therefore, the two main reasons that I turn on the display are to see the name of the song and its quality stats, and more importantly, second to see how much battery I have left. While this display works great for the first purpose, the battery indicator appears to be as hard to read and to confidently understand battery status as those complained about in other popular DAPs. The best I have seen is the AK100 II with both a great graphical representation plus a percentage number. However, both indicators are way too small for the normal person to read and are therefore useless without a magnifying glass.

X7 Battery Indicator Enhancement Requests: Can we please update with:
  • Percentage Gauge: Can we add a percentage gauge next to the battery graphic for dual indicators? If we can only have one, I would always opt for the percentage.
  • Enlarge Battery Gauges: Can we enlarge both for very easy reading?
  • Color Code: Another idea is to turn the indicator graphic and percentage green/yellow/blinking red to provide further visual clues. I cannot tell if this is already done by the pictures alone.
  • Sideways Battery Graphic: My favorite battery graphic is always the sideways battery outline with five bars inside which can easily be enlarged along the top by widening the bars for easier viewing even if height is an issue.
  • Battery Detail Page: If you want to one up the competition, you can make it a hot link that opens up a larger more detailed battery info page by touching it with super-sized indicators. This can just be a supersized battery indicator graphic and percentage or you can get creative with charging stats.
  • Hardware Button Access: Another unique idea would be to have a special hardware button press that displays a large low energy black and white battery status for 5 seconds without engaging the entire screen to conserve energy. This can be the same screen hot linked from the battery gauge area. The AK shows battery status during charging by touching the on button as well. The ultimate would be to have this page outside the OS so that we can check battery status instantly without powering on.

Did I mention that managing/monitoring battery is very important to me given a very limited battery life of around 10 hours so I don't miss out on musical opportunities due to a dead battery?

For me it looks like it is coming out nicely.

I only have one request/question that really concerns android firmware. If and until when will it be upgraded? I know for a fact that if you use android, you can have the world to do anything, but it really needs to be kept to date, and it becomes dated fast. very very fast.
