may have found another issue with new firmware. awhile back fiio fixed the issue with the X5III and the DK1 docking station. before it was fixed the volume of the line out would be cut in half after being paused, and required it to be unmounted then replaced in the dock station for volume to return.

This was fixed. now when docked i get half volume again and undocking and redocking does not bring volume back. this was working and now does not. I run the docking station to a Asguard 2 schiit amp, and this is working with a fiio XI and X3 II

Will go back to last firmware until this can be looked at.

Yeah I feel same way with performance of x5iii being sluggish.
Aune M1S turns on and off almost instantly.
Turn on instant. Play song right away.
Also the SE output for Aune is much more cleaner than x5iii.

I contacted fiio. The rep told me the Manager said that they will not make SE out as clean as Line out. Because people like different sounds. So they will keep SE output the way it is. I find x5iii lineout through A5 an improvement over SE output.

Aune doesn't suffer from that. Both SE and Bal are all good. I know it's unfair considering Aune has much more skill in their amps and tuning of sound.
How is the EQ on that Aune? Hows does it do with Android ? Holds two SD cards?

Doesn't need EQ. very meticulously tuned and transparent. EQ would completely destroy the point of the sound signature of the device.
Buy your own headphones to color it please.

it doesn't need android. Look at how x5iii performs with android. Does the x5iii even bypass SRC properly with 3rd party apps? Did FiiO really tell the truth about it? How fast does x5iii play songs the second you press play?
can you skip songs incredibly fast? or does it take ages? Does x5iii perform smoothly and does not lag in any of the 3rd party apps?

Most importantly can you consistently say x5iii can play gapless playback?

I know I can on the aune!

About the dual sd. I'm not going to downplay it. Few DAPS carry dual sds, and X5iii is no exception.
But it does allow bluetooth and wifi which can important features for sure.
I'll also give bonus points for Fiio X5III having fiio give lots of support including many firmwares within just a few months. It is hard to find that kind of support anywhere else.

I've had good communication with fiio during my time with the device. Also will give FiiO bonus points for at least really creating a special bypass for default stock player.

Kind of, but not as good as Opus 2 tbh. Not too sure about AK240.
It won't make people's jaw drop like the SQ on Opus 2 for sure.
I would say like a little sister, that can play Balanced Out/Line Out/ SE out, all really well. It has 3 audio filters slow/fast/ Analog.

Something I really wanted x5III to have was a clean SE out.

I've got an X7ii coming down this week, so my X5iii will be sold. If the X7ii proves as buggy, bearing in mind they should have been able to hit the ground running with all they've learnt from the X5iii, I'll send that back for a refund and forget about FiiO for future purchases.

A lot of the problem is when these units are sent out on tour, the reviewers who's reviews we trust, don't have long enough with the unit to find all these hard to find all the bugs.

My trouble is, I live on a 9 x 5 mile island between England and France with no specialist dealers, so have to go by reviews.

I'm already in my third week or so testing Opus #3, and I keep discovering new things about it

I won't post any review about X7mkii until I'm sure I know what I'm talking about, I totally understand that there are people who cannot test all devices before buying :triportsad:

@FiiO , please In the next firmware to implement the function of melting songs, also called crossfade, is something basic and very important in audio players, do not let it escape. A greeting.

The signal needs to be processed for that. So it won't be playing bitaccurate anymore.
If you want crossfade, you might wanna use a third party app that processes the audio signal if you don't mind.

It does not work well in the other programs (with the poweramp that used in the mobile gives error and some hangs to me), in addition, I want to implement the program FIIO MUSIC to be able to take advantage of the maximum of the player. You may not use it, but I will and surely many more.

Hi. You were complaining about Fiio being a trainwreck using customers as beta testers before you ever bought the x5 3 and then you went out and bought it and were not happy with it. I think you would save yourself some headaches by completely avoiding Fiio at this point. You seem to not care for them or their products. You're money is probably best spent on other brands. Why did you purchase the X5 3 after you started complaining about Fiio using consumers as beta testers and dissing them and their product without trying it yourself first? Then you tried it and kept the same attitude. This is not helpful to this thread. Kind of hypocritical to bash something you have never tried and then buy it shortly after and then continue bashing it. I am not really interested in the X5 3 at this point, but I haven't felt the need to have an opinion on something I know nothing about. I am not for or against the X5 3. I do not feel it is right for me at this time, but I at least am not making opinionated statements and calling out a company without trying their product to know if it suits my needs. Please keep this in mind when posting. I enjoy reading users thoughts on different audio gear even if I don't plan to purchase. Good luck. Hope you find something that suits your specific needs as you see fit.
