I'm digging the new firmware but I wonder if anyone else has experienced the same bug: whenever connecting my X5 to a computer for use as a DAC it seems to arbitrarily enter Vehicle Mode. I can mount it as a storage device but for use as a DAC it is essentially useless. Toggling back and forth between Storage and DAC in the pull down menu does nothing. It's only after a frustrating half hour did I realize that disabling Vehicle Mode in the settings menu is the only way I can use the X5 as a DAC. Good thing I have no need for Vehicle Mode so disabling it is no problem but this is strange behavior for a device that up until now didn't behave this way. What?

Is there anyone has experienced that, when you turn on X5iii again, the player resumes the last played song before its firmware upgrading to 1.1.7? It really irritates me (luckily everytime it resumes the one song that I really like). But still the failed gapless playing remains the biggest problem that annoys me.

Edit: Resuming the last song played fixed

While I'm working on new 1.1.7 firmware. I noticed its stock kernel is getting better and USB DAC support will require modern kernel to function properly. I also like new white UI in 1.1.7 too.

For those who has ROM with 1.0.9 or 1.1.1 kernel, I recommend to try comparing to 1.1.7 ones.

Haven't experienced this myself, my X5iii connects to my MacBook as DAC without any problem. That said, when I looked, Vehicle Mode was unchecked in settings menu by default.

Unfortunately, I can't claim the same. I have a few songs on this album (my only DSD on the player)...and it skips every so often. I've even opened up Developer options to try and stop apps from running as soon as I leave them. Have no unnecessary background tasks running. Songs still skip. If I wait for the song to skip, then reset the track. It'll play through fine. Though, I have to do that for multiple tracks.

Note: They don't skip on my PC.

Dear friend,

If you don't mind, please send this DSD file for us for confirming the issue.

Best regards

I installed 1.1.7 on my FIIO X5iii and now Resume does not work. Every time I start the device I must reselect the album and song I was listening to.
If I select recently played from the menu it will play the last song but will not continue with the album, it plays the next song on the recently played list which might be a different album.
I had no problems with 1.1.6 and would go back but I don't have a copy of 1.1.6 and I removed Google framework from 1.1.7 so I don't know if I can reinstall 1.1.6.
Dear friend,

We have replied you via email. Please have a check, thanks!

Best regards

@FiiO
I currently have an X5III and have a problem with the X5III not displaying album art in the Fiio Music app (latest firmware).
I have a DNLA server running Logitech Media Server. In folder view the images are visible, but not fullscreen. How would I be able to see the album art in the Fiio Music app?

Dear friend,

We are so sorry about the gapless issue bringing to you. And we have fixed it in this firmware: https://www.dropbox.com/s/al5lnhqqjbdf5bf/X5-ota-eng-20170801.zip?dl=0
Please download and have a try.

Best regards

Thanks for the link. I download the file on the internalSD. I am not familiar with Android and always let the FW update made automatically. Thus, my stupid question: what should I do next in order to activate the download of the FW update?

in Android mode, go to "Technical Support" then "Firmware update" then "Local upgrade" and browse to the zip file you downloaded.
